Dan Whitney, when he had Gone With The Wind, made a beautiful line equilizer of anodized aluminum. If you can grab one of them somewhere, they are fantastic! Sorry, I'm holding on to mine. More comfortable than the plastic Moran, which also works quite well.
I joined about 12 years ago, 6 months or so after I discovered kites again. For a lone kiter in the backwoods, it provides a lot of good instruction through the magazine and friends I have made through AKA. I also feel that even if I don't always agree with AKA policies or decisions it is good to have a national organization to support the individuals.
