Wayne, no problem since Eliot did have a picture of a 3 series.  Just a matter of getting him to dig it all out.

 

The kite was developed to smooth out and lessen the pull - if one is out for a couple of hours, once in awhile, who cares.  But if one is out all day, and often, then less pull allowed me to fly for longer periods and more often.  Not sure how 'just a kite' created the uproar!  And as Ben said,

75% = Twix a full-vent and a mid-vent

In the attached photo, the kite on the left is "75%", the center kite is "100%" and kite on the right is "40%".

 

Please note that I identify all the "75%" and "40%" kites and mark them accordingly.

I believe it refers to the amount of the sail area that is made of strips as opposed to solid fabric. If you look at his kites you'll notice that on most the center is not mesh, but some are mesh in entirety, including the center (where the rev logo usually is).

Hey folks - Eliot's ALWAYS have a solid center panel with the Rev logo, and after the first few, they also have the compass rose.  Full mesh center panel is either Alden's g-string/Vickie or a chinese knockoff.

 

FYI, after 6 years of flying this design, I still love the smoothness of it!

Thank you all for your advice and help it looks like we will be buying another B series 1.5  very very soon then.
it was just a question that threw me a little as I had never really thought about someone who only flew quads from the start.

Sounds like you've figured this out!  Welcome to both of you!!

For the record, the way we handle this question in the store with wide-eyed fliers to be.  We ask them if they want to fly a 1, 2 or 4 line kite.  What?!? they say, never heard of the 2 or 4, is it hard.  We answer that it is a personality choice.  Single line flyers are usually more interested in color in the sky while they read/walk/hold a drink on the beach.  (Big single lines are a whole 'nother personality )  Whereas, sport kite flyers like to do stuff - they are bored silly just sitting.

So this person wants a sport kite - likes the idea of movement, excercise, Tricks, etc.  The next thing is ask them if they like the idea of a forward moving airplane/dualies OR a helicopter/quads.  

Simple clear instruction on up and down, turns and careful with the lines (if they don't want a lesson) usually brings them back with confusion to be cleared up AND a huge Grin!  We also have both quad and dual trainers for them to try.

We really are crazy about Revs on this forum.  But must tell you I've flown 90% of the quads out there, and the Rev is truly the Gold Standard!!

My wife and I are going to Lawton, Oklahoma to visit our Son

I was wondering if there are any REV or Dual line fliers in the area It would be great to meet and fly with some new friends.

We will be there March 20th - 25th leaving Saturday the 26th out of Oklahoma City back to Medford ,Oregon.

Don't know any flyers out there, but check with a kite shop Thomason's Sport Kites Lahoma, OK 73754 405-987-2558 .  (Can't remember the name)  They sell revs, so they should know the local flyers!

Gentlemen,

For those reasons, years ago I started flying on the north end at the Whalehead Club, and when I opened a store it was across the street.  

While the Whalehead Club/Currituck Heritage Park does NOT have the space of the Ridge, it does offer a safe place to fly - especially when the winds are from the west.  And generally doesn't have crowds cutting across the flight path.

Come try it sometime!
