All I have for my Power Blast kites is 100' line sets.
Our local beaches are too highly populated for me to feel comfortable occupying that much sky (and possible ground!). I would need a snorkel to get far enough out into the surf line to avoid overflying sunbathers. (Might as well take up kite surfing!)
Since I haven't tried it yet, can someone comment on the pros and cons of dropping down to 60 or even 50 foot lines for these monsters when used with a buggy?
I am a fairly low time Rev pilot and wonder if I would be gaining enough access to smaller beach space to make up for whatever weirdness would occur from all the power on those short lines.

Power Blast 2-4 hover mode
19 March 2013 - 06:37 AM
Yesterday, I flew in the typical 7mph to zero variable winds here at KSC where I work.
I'm trying to get this 2-4 down a little better before I pull the PB 4-8 I just bought out of the bag.
I tried hovering the kite, leading edge up. It would either go up (when the wind came up), or slide back down and land when the wind dropped. I couldn't get it to hold its position.
I can make my 1.5 Rev park just about anywhere, so this response is a new one to me.
I'm fairly certain I was not over controlling the kite.
Is this just what you get with a heavier kite and light, variable winds, or is there something else I need to consider?
I have the line trim set at a point that lets me go from power on to power off fairly easily, so I wouldn't want to change that unless I must.
Any ideas?
My buggy is supposed to arrive Saturday and I hope to begin some rolling flying sessions soon.

Manuals needed for Power Blast 2-4 and 4-8
13 March 2013 - 03:13 AM
To avoid having another problem like the one I had with my 2-4, due to improper assembly of the kite ( did not receive the manual with the used kite although the seller said they would supply one), can anyone help me in obtaining the manuals for the two Power Blast kites?
As I said, I already have the 2-4 and I will be picking up a used 4-8 this Saturday.
Thanks!

Power Blast 2-4 trailing edge blowout
10 March 2013 - 05:10 PM
Yesterday I was static flying in 10-12 mph winds. I thought something looked a little loose on the trailing edge so I landed to take a look.
The bungee holding the longer spar on one side had ripped through the fabric, so it was only held by one hole.
I am having a piece of heavier material sewn over the area where the melted-through holes are for the bungees and some additional stitching done for reinforcement.
Also, instead of the bungee being in a loop, I'm going to run each end of the bungee through a nylon finish washer and tie a knot in it.
This is the way that my 1.5 SLE is set up and it looks more durable to me.
Any thoughts here?

Power Blast 2-4 weird stuff happening in "glide" mode
05 March 2013 - 04:13 AM
The kite seems to be flying OK in most flight modes.
BUT, (NO! Jennifer Lopez notwithstanding, I do NOT like big butts!) if I take it up to the top and release all tension on the bottom lines, it will begin to glide.
For about 3 seconds, then it will either point the leading edge straight down and do a kamikaze landing, or flip on its back and spin like a top until the earth interrupts its gymnastic routine.
During these anomalies, no amount of control inputs have any effect on what the kite is doing.
I THINK the spinning and flipping may be happening because of the wind speed suddenly decreasing to zero, which happens too often at my most convenient flying sites. I have yet to get to the beach and some consistent wind.
Can anyone confirm these characteristics as normal zero wind operation for the PB, or can you suggest something to adjust on the kite to lessen its tendency to lose its mind when the wind drops off?
Since the lines are totally slack at the inception of the events, I can't imagine that line trim settings have anything to do with it.
Ideas?
