#94817 Printed REV designs (some are still available - some are new)

Posted by RevWizard on 17 April 2014 - 08:02 PM

Over the last 5 years I have designed a number of printed REVS, all but one being the standard REV 1.5 sail.

I have all the pictures and some information including possible availability on Facebook at: https://www.facebook...81344814&type=1

#94816 New REV Indoor for Scott Weider

Posted by RevWizard on 17 April 2014 - 05:18 PM

I receive my new Tiger REV today.

This is the one and only(hopefully) Tiger REV using one of my personal © photos.

The resolution of that photo was rather low thus if printed as a photo on a full size REV 1.5 it would look very blurry and pixilated.

This photo was taken by me at the zoo in Munich, Germany in 2005.

I chose to convert the photo to vector graphics which gives it an applique effect.

I defer to you, but it's not as much fun to say.

I agree that Spirograph is a bit more impressive.

The design is actually called Pin-Art or String-Art.

#94680 Need help with the basics in the UK

When I read the message, I tend to believe the end caps were broken.

It sure would be cheaper if that is the case.

Just wait and see what I am working on now.

It will be a while if and when it is ever finished.

My next one, which is for me, has been printed and is probably in sewing now.

Since this time two more designs have gone into printing for some REV fliers whom I won't say who they are at this time.

Another is being thought about.

#94447 EXP vs SLE vs B-series

Posted by RevWizard on 12 February 2014 - 12:21 PM

What replaces that model, for light wind flying?

Briefly:

The B series is better in lighter winds due to the panel design. The B Pro is even better and cost a bit more.

Also an alternative is the single piece printed sail which you usually will not find in the catalog, but ask for it.

Any of these along with race rods and other newer type rods will also improve light wind flying.

#94392 New REV Indoor for Scott Weider

Posted by RevWizard on 03 February 2014 - 04:33 PM

Scott recently asked me if I would do the graphics layout for a new REV indoor he needed for demonstration this week.

Being a good friend whom I have known for over 15 years I said yes.

I was provided a photo of a falcons breast with the wings spread.

Scott also provided me a sketch of how he wanted the falcon on the REV Indoor. So this creation is Scott's. I just brought it to life.

I converted the photo from pixel (.jpeg) to Vector graphics.

The interest was to show the breast and wings of the falcon on the REV Indoor.

First I had to create  the layout and proper dimensions for a REV Indoor, which I had never done before.

The graphics were placed on the REV Indoor layout.

Then the graphics where sent to the Gonzalez brother in Gandia, Spain where they were printed on Icarex Polyester.

The printed material was sent to Revolution In San Diego where the REV Indoor was completed.

This is the finished REV Indoor in photo as sent to me by Scott.

#94345 Spectra Fishing Line vs Spectra Kite Line

Posted by RevWizard on 29 January 2014 - 09:03 PM

The line I saw was made in the USA.  And it is not suppose to stretch.

The key words are "not suppose".

In actuality spectra/dynema kite lines will stretch, however is quite minute.

The fishing line in, comparison, will stretch quite a bit. As a fishing line that is not critical, however for stunt kite stretch is critical.

If you are satisfied with LaserPro stay with them. They are excellent.

From what I have seen on the forum there are a number of negatives.

- The weave is different in that the fishing line stretches where the kite version doesn't.

- The color I hear is of such a nature that it is not easily seen on the ground.

- wear is another fault I heard somewhere.

-etc (there are more reasons which I don't recall)

Save yourself some grief and even money in the long run and buy good quality kite kines such as Shanti and LaserPro. Stay away from the cheap Spectra/Dynema  kite lines often coming from China.

Go to upper right next where you will see your log in in name next to "sign out".

Right click and select "profile"

Go to upper left and you will see the default member photo.

If I remember correctly you you can change that photo by clicking on it and follow the instructions.
