#95562 B-Serie with green race frame

Posted by RevWizard on 19 October 2014 - 09:25 AM

The green race frame is based on the black race frame. It has an additional wrap of a particular material that makes it almost indestructible for which was its designed purpose.

It is a little bit stiffer and heavier then the black race frame.

#95494 Lee sedgwick 1.5 warm colors

The first image is how a printed Sedgwick could look like when scaled to a REV 1.5. (click on thumbnail to expand)

The second image is a B-series panel layout over the printed Sedgwick. (click on thumbnail to expand)

It does not look that good as a B-series.

An alternative is the have a printed version created to simulate the panels of the Sedgwick series.

Contact Lolly at Revolution for the possibilities.

#95421 Vertical sleeves - any use??

Posted by RevWizard on 14 September 2014 - 10:36 AM

The roughness you are seeing on the outside of the Revolution rods is only resin and not carbon. It is caused by the cellophane tape that that holds the carbon wraps to the mandrel (metal core) they are wrapped around before they go to the oven. When the rods come out of the oven and have cooled the cellophane is removed which leaves ridges in the resin. This can be sanded off. If you do sand them check that the dust on your rods always stays white. If it start to turn black you are cutting into the carbon.
You can get the ZEN rods for the REV 1.5, at least you could. These are smooth and appear to me to be sanded.

#95369 Anybody flying with tails?

Posted by RevWizard on 06 September 2014 - 06:35 PM

How about this one?
A REV I with six tails on the inner trailing edge. Tails are about 15 meters long.

The tails here are made from Icarex P31 Polyester. Each tail is about 25mm(1") wide. They are hot cut to prevent fraying. They are excellent and slip amongst themselves even in zero wind as long as they don't get wet.

I first tried nylon tails. Their primary faults were being too heavy and snagging each other.
Where do you get Icarex tails? You have to make them yourself.

#95109 ? on old rev

Posted by RevWizard on 18 June 2014 - 04:49 PM

What'sworn look like?? I still fly my Rev 1 with it's original rods with no problem! Unless they are really in bad shape, put it together and fly!!

Wayne, the very early REV I had short end caps at the top of the vertical rods. The cap did touch LE rods and rubbed through the Dacron thus directly to the LE rods.

Revolution made two corrections. There was Kevlar cloth added between the Dacron pieced on the leading edge. The other was an extended rubber cap at the top of the vertical rods.

The changes took place around 1991.
