#92473 Mega Team 100 animation - WSKIF 2013
Posted by RevWizard
on 21 April 2013 - 03:54 PM
Now I am getting going on this project.
The animations are using "Adobe Edge Animate" which make use of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
FLASH is Not used.
These animation should work well on any up to date Web Browser.
Some early drafts of this animation may be seen at:
START - http://johnnmitchell.com/grid100/start
Horizontal Thread - http://johnnmitchell...grid100/horiz3/
Vertical Thread - http://johnnmitchell.../grid100/vert2/
Please note the shown start probably will not be used. We are working on an easier start where probably 4 groups start separately and then assemble in a 10x10 grid.
It is noted that the animations do function properly on:
iPhone
IPad
PC with Google Chrome 26.0
PC with Firefox 20.0
PC with Internet Explorer 10
Firefox for Android

Ray's world record is 12 hours and 12 minutes flying three dual line kites at once. One in each hand and the other from the sides of his belt.

I've never flown my REV INDOOR, indoors, only outdoors in zero wind.

Less wind is required for a stack
For the wobble of the last kite, check that all the stack lines to the last kite are the same length within a couple mm.
Some stack fliers also like to have the the bottom two stack lines, if I recall correctly, slightly longer. It is mention in several threads on this forum more precisely how much more(or less).

I only have 1 frame set of 2's, could a set of black race rods do or does the mix of flex create an issue? Can see it being too much of a drama.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You can use the RR's. I would put them before the 2's because they are tougher.

Only 150# line needed. Does this apply the the Power Series kites as well?
Tapatalk for iPhone.
When I still had my BLAST I flew it on 150#. I also flew a Super Blast(now BLAST 2-4) on 150# line. Now the Blast 4-8 you might consider heavier lines particularly if you plan lifting yourself, let us say over water. I am sure Kent can elaborate much better on this as he does enjoy and does power kiting quite often.

Hmmm, an 8 Stack!!! Line recommendations anyone?
150# - If you need more then you have a stack you can't hold.
I kinda look at it like this. If you have 150# lines times 4 that is 600# of even pull. Now I cut that in half to 300# for a safety factor. Even 300# pull is quite difficult to hold.
However you don't want to fly with such a pull all the time.

It can be done however I might suggest working with a sample of the material first and see what effect it has.
Ink running down the threads of the material is the main worry.
Going very lightly with the marker, and I mean very lightly, usually does the trick when the ink runs too much down the threads. You will have to go over it several times very lightly to make it look really good.
With luck you won't have to go to this extreme.
Now paint markers do work much better because the paint is thicker than the ink of something like what the call in the USA a Sharpie or felt tip marker.

Hola Mauricio,
Welcome to the Revolution Forum.
As you found out you do need quality lines that do not stretch in the slightest. Specter(Dynema) type lines for kites are the ones that safely fall into this category. If you run across Kevlar lines, DO NOT take them. They can be classified as Dangerous and will cut other kite lines.
Highly recommended Manufactures of lines for Revolutions are Shanti and Laser Pro.
As for other kite fliers close to Mexico; if I take you literally, then San Diego would fit in that category.
In San Diego there are quite a number of REV Fliers. The kites are made in San Diego county in the city Poway.

As for color, white in my opinion shows up best.
For reflection, New Icarex Polyester is what I think reflects best.

i tour with the show Cavalia (like cirque du soliel) but with horses, haven't been home lol in 6 years getting paid to travel the planet not a bad job.
Quite interesting!
Are you aware of the Rev Indoor. They have been flown on stage for Americas Got Talent.
They have been integrated into Ice Capades type shows and some others.
However as I assume you are aware, horses do not take to kites very well.
#91210 Mega Team 100 animation - WSKIF 2013
Posted by RevWizard
on 23 December 2012 - 08:47 PM
I will be starting shortly some simple animations for use at WSKIF 2013.
I have WSKIF in my plans for the first time and am looking forward to being there.
I previously created the Super 16 Flash animation of which I worked very close with Felix in creating.
You may find this animation on my Web Site at: http://johnnmitchell...er16/index.html
The new animation that I will be creating will NOT be created with "Adobe Flash". Instead, I will be using "Adobe Edge Animate" to create the animation. There is zero Flash involved.
"Adobe Edge Animate" creates animation using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, thus for you Apple users that have terrible problems with Flash, you should have zero problems with the new animation when you update your browsers.
Now if you would like to see something I created with the "Adobe Edge Preview", not the release version, look at this URL: http://johnnmitchell...A-Flag-3x5.html
What you see in the preview version should be very close if not identical to what the "Adobe Edge Animate" creates.
I expect sometime next month I will actually be able to dedicate time to creating the new animation, so don't be expecting much of anything before then.

I was looking for active content in the last 24 hours(what ever it was called) but it has moved.
Now it is under "New content" where you can now select the time period.
I like this.
