#95807 Ben's Farewell

Posted by RevWizard on 16 December 2014 - 06:38 PM

Ben is a real kite friend, and friend who will always remain a friend.
If I recall correctly Ben took on his post at Revolution around 2004 which gives him about 10 years on the job. His accomplishments there were superb.
I am starting a list here of some of the accomplishments which I hope you all will add to:
- He brought out the race rod, green race rod, silver bullet rod and the new diamond rod.
- He brought out the Rev 1.5 B series, which was followed by the B-Pro from Bazzer
- He brought out the Rev 1.5 New York Minute that he designed.
- He brought out the B2 (new REV II).
- He brought out the ZEN made by Bazzer.
- He recovered the Masterpiece series adding a long list of kite makers.
- He brought about the printed Revolution 1.5s.
- He traveled continuously to Kite festivals promoting the Revolution kite despite a continuous health issue.
- He listened to other REV fliers about what they wanted and how he could help them.
So, come on everyone please add to our great friends accomplishments while at Revolution.

Seems I recall something about an inflatable pressurized sail within one of Joe's patents.

#95667 Tube or Strip???

Posted by RevWizard on 04 November 2014 - 06:01 AM

OK, so is there a specific thread type that is used when sewing the different colors together or just your standard thread?

Cotton is not recommended as it can rot. I use polyester thread.

#95572 Which rev would you buy if you had

A printed sails.

#95562 B-Serie with green race frame

Posted by RevWizard on 19 October 2014 - 09:25 AM

The green race frame is based on the black race frame. It has an additional wrap of a particular material that makes it almost indestructible for which was its designed purpose.

It is a little bit stiffer and heavier then the black race frame.

#95494 Lee sedgwick 1.5 warm colors

The first image is how a printed Sedgwick could look like when scaled to a REV 1.5. (click on thumbnail to expand)

The second image is a B-series panel layout over the printed Sedgwick. (click on thumbnail to expand)

It does not look that good as a B-series.

An alternative is the have a printed version created to simulate the panels of the Sedgwick series.

Contact Lolly at Revolution for the possibilities.

#95421 Vertical sleeves - any use??

Posted by RevWizard on 14 September 2014 - 10:36 AM

The roughness you are seeing on the outside of the Revolution rods is only resin and not carbon. It is caused by the cellophane tape that that holds the carbon wraps to the mandrel (metal core) they are wrapped around before they go to the oven. When the rods come out of the oven and have cooled the cellophane is removed which leaves ridges in the resin. This can be sanded off. If you do sand them check that the dust on your rods always stays white. If it start to turn black you are cutting into the carbon.
You can get the ZEN rods for the REV 1.5, at least you could. These are smooth and appear to me to be sanded.
