Good Luck on setting a setting a Guinness Book world records for kiting duration.
I think Ray Bethell holds that record of around 8 hours or more non-stop with a "more than one line" kite. The exact time I do not know but I am sure it can easily be found on the internet.

At Antelope Island last year, I believe it was David Hathaway that began reffering to me as the "Energizer Bunny of kiting". I hope this isn't a reference to being annoying, like that damn bunny came to be, but rather a reference to my stamina.

Maybe next year at KP I'll make a run at Mr. Bethel's record, for real, and do it officially. You can be sure that when I do, I will have 2 fully charged iPod Nanos and my smartphone at my disposal so the music can keep me going!

I completely get that the world is not ideal for flying kites unless you are fortunate enough to live on the coast or in the flatlands. I was already comfortable in the fact that I need to work on my not perfect condition skills. If I wanted to hear a preaching I would have gone to church. Even, JB, would call it a bad day if the 2-3 mph breeze from the south was suddenly 12 mph from the north and in your face. If there's a frame and bridle tweak that could help with that, let me know. I'm all ears.
If you really know you need to work on your "bad condition" skills, then go and do it. Sounds like you have some pretty crappy locations to practice at, so quit complaining and go fly them and be a better pilot as a result of the experience.
I flew with JB this weekend. Sunday, we started with 0-2mph, and within a couple hours we were on full vents, wind blowing a different direction. The shifting conditions made the demos performed challenging for anyone to fly. Guess what - not one complaint from JB, just smiles and good times all day long. I wouldn't presume to put words into JB's mouth, neither should you.
With the conditions you described, I would have made it work with a 2 wrap/race frame to start, when the wind shifted I would have put in a 3 wrap, and possibly changed location on the field to adjust to the wind direction. On a standard sail it would be over powered, but it would work just fine.
I understand none of this applies to this topic; you were interested in finding spots in TN to fly, and I have no suggestions for you. However, check your attitude. No one is trying to preach to you. REVflyer might be long-winded but he's only trying to help. The Rev will fly anywhere, anytime, any condition. Believe that.

Another case of "it all seems to work"
Still, I wouldn't put off flying on the short lines just to wait on some sleeving

In my community, I have recently taken over a 70ft by 70ft area of grass that happens to be at a busy 4-way stop sign
Before she left, she told me I need to slow down the "fancy" tricks a bit and draw more shapes and it would look better to the folks driving by :/

I'd say its due to your lack of flight time. Your second time out you say? Keep working at it and enjoying yourself. Light wind flying is all technique.
Hmmm... Are you flying with the SLE frame? It is definitely heavy, and while it can be flown in light winds, it requires an extra delicate touch. Because the SLE frame is so stiff, it won't bend easily, the wind will quickly "sheet" off the sail, making presicion difficult. Using a 3 wrap leading edge, or better yet a full Race frame, might serve you better here.

I guess friendship is a good reason to click the like button on a post, but I think adding them as a friend to your profile pays homage enough.

#86669 Rev 1.5 question about wind

...1.5 Zen Frame : 2 wrap frame from a special carbon that looks totally awesome. Has the "Zen" label on it...super sexy frame and will not only instantly improve your skills, but will make you more desirable to Rev pilots of the opposite sex and will cause extensive envy for pilots of the same sex .... well, the test results are not yet in on some of these facts, but you get the idea.
#86294 Why is one Rev not enough?

That being said, I'd own just one good looking kite IF it flew in every condition, and if it was easy and physically comfortable to handle during EVERY condition. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and I am forced
The different Revs are like tools in my hands for dealing with varying wind conditions. I own several Revs now because I believe in having the right tool for the job. You wouldn't use a screwdriver to cut a tree down would you? Or use a hammer to mix cake batter? Er um neither would I. While the standard-sail does fly in an incredible amount of conditions, I need the comfort of my vented Rev over 10 mph. And while the standard-sail will fly below 3 mph, the Zen does it better on the 120s with less movement on my behalf. Etc etc
When angling for a new Rev as a present, it helps to know your audience. Many of the posts in this topic have good tips for explaining to your audience why one Rev is not enough, even if your audience happens to be yourself
