Most use top leaders that span the gap from top to bottom on their handles! That's after knots! Knotting the original on the bottom, 1/2 way works fine too! I've found that moving the bottom, 1 knot is like moving the top 2 knots!! At least that's my experience with them!! Lots of info on the forum under the "Mods" topic!! Have fun playing with a setup that works for you!!

I think you'll find those home made 15" handles to be too much in higher winds!! I use both 15" and 13", but the longer 15" are mostly for lighter winds, and I use 13" if the wind gets up!! Just IMHO!! You'll also find that most use 13" in team formations!

Haven't played with hybrid frames a lot, but understand the reasoning for them!!

Get some time on those 120's, they're half again as long as 80's and they have a different response time!!

Have fun playing around with things, one of the joys of Revs, you can mix and match to your hearts content!!Posted Image

  5. In Topic: Max wind for 1.5 SLE

    Posted 10 May 2012

I noticed that you said an SLE, have you added extended top leaders to your handles? There is a good pic and discussion of this subject in Modifications!! Adding more brake and lessening the forward drive will give you more control over how the kite reacts to those gusts!! Just about all of us use them to adjust (as the wind dictates) our forward drive!! You're on the right track with watching your LE for flex, too much and you'll want to put it away before something breaks!! That's why most of us have several different configurations of sail ( std, mid, f/v), it's a match kite to wind thing!!
SparkleRob has a good point - if you get in the position of imminent crash - Give to the Kite!! No sense breaking stuff while you're learning!! Forget most of the dualie control, quads are a whole different animal!! You'll learn to use your hands and wrists for control, not the push/pull of dualies!!
