About Me
Isn't it something how you constantly watch treetops, flags, etc. for movement? The wind was always there, but invisible to me. Now I see wind everywhere.
The "great kiting days" which are often stolen by "gotta-dos", seem harder to handle than before I flew these ripstop wonders. That MP3 player my kids bought me for Christmas several years ago, finally gets used and makes my flying so much more special!
I sympathize with those who cannot, and will not, understand.
I'm happily Obsessed!

The dark-side addiction,
affliction, and conviction,
is void of restriction.
My only prediction...
it's actually fiction.
#85162 Leading Edge mesh repair
Posted by Jynx
on 15 November 2011 - 09:05 PM
I recently experimented with this easy repair method, and have flown it several times since and found it to work just great!
I have a well-used full-vent Rev which has been flown for several years and suffered several small (1"-1-1/2") horizontal slits in the leading edge mesh. I was originally going to replace the full length of the mesh (or sew a mesh patch) but thought I'd try this and see IF it worked...and it did!
Using a piece of scotch-tape under the mesh to hold the tear tight and in place, I applied a thin coat of super glue, waited a few seconds, then used a cotton Q-tip swab to press the damaged area in place and to also remove any excess glue. I allowed the glue to set well and dry (a few minutes) then slowly removed the tape.
The repaired slit is nearly invisible and has held well.
Just thought I'd pass this along!

I just can't get it to go the distance!
Do you suggest attaching weights so that it will toss the 250' needed for my lines?

Good One! The best wish I've heard on this stream!Oh, just thought of another thing I would like to see come out of Rev in the New Year.
Ben with a good pair of feet.
Hope everyone has a good Christmas.
May Ben, and all, have a healthy and happy holiday and the very best in the New Year!

I now fly on my new 250' lines! (The Gifts of Wings kite field at Veterans Park in Milwaukee WI has ample space)
Most of those who have tried them, Luv them!
Such an immense window and the enjoyment watching people trying to figure out where they're comming from!
BTW Theresa (The Kite Shoppe) makes up some awesome sets!
The Sky's the Limit!
...as a side-note: Watty introduced me to short-line flying (at WSIKF) as well. There's that side of the thrill too!
#72928 100 Rev fly at 2010 WSIKF (Aug 16-22)

Bart and I spoke of this late Saturday, after the record was set, and WSIKF was winding down... I admitted to him (and others) and now to the (kiting) world that in the early days of this forum stream I was so excited to see all the kiters signing-up... then it got technical... and I began doubting myself and wondered why I (who flys solo 99% of the time) was about to spend the time and money to travel to Washington to sit and (probably) just "watch" this whole thing take place! Yes, I lacked faith in myself and the whole process.I freely admit that I was so wrong on this and so overthinking it that I must have set a new record for myself analyzing it all for six months. I do did not need to do that! But that is part of my mental process so it is what it is. With one under my belt and time to digest it all I can also tell people what you guys told me - it really is not that hard to wrap one's head around. I was a skeptic, now a believer. I can hardly wait to give it another go!
Bart
I then made-up my mind to "delete" (without reading) the entire stream... and go for bust! ...and I'm so GLAD I did!
Between John and Felix... they made ALL of us, no matter how mega-fly experienced, challenge our doubts, and Just Do It! Though I didn't understand all the forum tech stuff, THEY knew what had to be done and were more than ready for it. The attempt was so totally organized, with Felix's preplanning and John's calm voice directing us, and many of the Greatest Skilled Rev'ers unselfishly standing-out to assist us... we did it! We achieved not only the record of 64, but achieved something much more important to me... a feeling of Self-achievement and Team Camaraderie.
It was totally AWESOME! …Words cannot express!
THANKS to ALL of YOU who made this possible for US!
