Better late than never. Here is my week squeezed down into about four minutes!

I have yet to strip out some specific flying sequences, but this is a start.

  2. Windscape 2012

    Posted 12 Jan 2012

In just about six months it will be time again for Windscape Kite Festival in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Dates this year are June 23 and 24 (the web site is still showing the 2011 event)

    www.windscapekitefestival.ca

This two day festival is the largest in western Canada and is a major tourist attraction for the province.

Each year I like to see as many Rev flyers out for it as possible. Last year we had a local record of 14 in our own little mega-fly. I'd love to see even more this year! In addition to the greater number of kites in the air the mega-fly "routine" is also improving in terms of overall skill level making for a more impressive crowd pleaser.

All who read this are welcome to attend. Recognized skilled teams and individuals may want to go the extra step and email an application to be considered for one of the featured celebrity flyers. In 2011 the organizers flew in pilots from all parts of Canada and the USA plus Germany and France. If you're good (and you know who you are) this application can be a free, fully covered, festival for you! Just follow the link on the web site to get involved.

In the past the festival has hosted many of the big names in the Rev world: iQuad, 180 Go!, Island Quad, Rev Riders, Spencer "Watty" Watson and Amy and Connor Doran to name just a few.

Windscape is a very family friendly event. In addition to the kites there are children's activities throughout the day, face painting and shows. In the evening, after the kiddies are asleep, the main tent becomes the venue for the annual Long Days Night Music Festival.

The weekend wouldn't be complete without my annual BBQ for my friends. If you fly and Rev you can bet you'll get an invite and a ride over to my backyard for burgers, beer and great conversation.

So I hope you will attend either on your own or as part of the invited featured guests. Plan now to make it happen!

Please "Like" this page on Facebook then "like" my two photos "Sky Candy" and "Day of the Dragon" in the photo contest album. I'm trying to win the contest for gettng a photo in the 2012 WSIKF program. No prizes, just the fun of getting the photo. The picture with the most "Likes" wins. Thanks.

  4. WSIKF 2011 blog entries

    Posted 14 Aug 2011

For anyone interested I plan do do a daily blog from WSIKF again this year. Will have the usual Rev slant on it as that is where I will be spending most of my time - field C.

If I get a good WiFi connection I'll also try to add some daily photos as well.

For those coming in - see you soon. For those who can't make it hopefully I'll see you next year! Make plans. Really, it is totally worth the experience!

  5. looking for a used Rev

    Posted 9 Aug 2011

I have a local guy who has taken my kites out for a spin and he wants to get his own now. He is on a limited budget so I'm trying to help him out with some purchase options.

With WSIKF coming up I figure maybe people are looking to sell some kites and accessories and maybe we can help each other out to help my friend.

I'd be looking for something that is still in good shape that could still get a few years flying before repairs or replacement. Also need a 120 line set and handles. I have some options on a line set already and handles, but never hurts to have other options.

I think, at best, would want to set him up with a std sail and maybe an SLE with the small diameter rods. I'd look at all possible configurations. I don't think it will be possible to come up with a STD and Vented sail at the same time.

If I can hammer out something at WSIKF to present to him and he is okay with the money and the deal I can pay for it there and take it home for him.

I realize this may be a long shot rather late in the game, but worth a shot none-the-less.

    Thanks.

    Bart
