Snow Queens weekend!
05 December 2009 - 11:12 PM
Wow, after several weeks of the Pineapple Express pounding us with windstorms & rain, we got a beautiful break in the weather for our annual Snow Queens weekend. Great turn-out today- around a dozen Revs flying in the sunshine.
Here's a teaser video of what it was like.

Rev II team flying?
25 January 2009 - 10:07 PM
It was a beautiful day today, but the winds were fairly strong and even a full Vent B-Series with 4 Wrap Equipped frame was a handful.
I decided to take some strain off my wrists and lines and dust off my Vented Rev II. It was a lot of fun: zippy and lightning quick turns. Terry and Gordie got their Rev IIs out too and we flew all three on our 120' x 90# lines. It was pretty cool, as they matched in colour: red/black/white, even though they were of three different generations.
It was quite a challenge trying to do our usual moves with such responsive kites. Every over-control and correction was easy to see as these kites move in that sort of wind. After a while, our brains got up to speed (most of the time) and we were able to do a lot of our routine, though a bit faster than usual.
I took a quite a few pics and got lucky a couple of times when we were able to hold them in position long enough to get the shot.
Anyhow, it was a total blast, I can't remember having so much fun or saying whoa and d'oh! so many times in one afternoon. If you haven't tried team flying with Rev IIs, give it a try, it was a really refreshing change of pace.

BCKA Christmas Fly
17 December 2008 - 10:02 AM
I've been a member of the BCKA since the early '90s but this was the first year that I attended their annual Christmas Party/Fun Fly.
Big thanks to cathyt for picking a group of us islanders up at the ferry terminal and then sharing her house and awesome kitchen skills while we were over!
Garry Point is where the fun fly is held and the first day was grey and drizzly, but the winds were very smooth. I had endless fun doing water skims over the pond in the middle of the park. It was so nice to fly in such wide open spaces, with great scenery and no goose poop, like the stuff that litters the field in Parksville.
There was a great turn-out and Steve De Rooy, Bazzer and Monkey from iQuad joined in a Rev mega fly.
Sunday started out foggy, but the skies were clearing when Cathy drove us to the field. Soon enough, the winds picked up fairly briskly and blew the clouds and fog away and it was a beautiful sunny day.
I had a wonderful time over there and am looking forward to flying at Garry Point again.
I've posted some pics on my BCKA Christmas Fly album
