Had a great time this past weekend at the 20th Carolina Kite Fest. Despite a rainy start on Saturday, it was a huge success. It was great to see Ben again and even better to fly with him. Had a good time doing some follow the leader, a few bursts, and learning all I could about team flying with with Ben and Gordon (one of the Bay Area Sundowners). Was hoping Kip (nckiter) was going to join in but he ended up fielding questions from the audience. Also got to fly with Doug (CLTkiter) and Kenny (another Sundowner) and had a great time helping Ben teach new folks how to fly quadline.
Of course Ben was riding the Sundowners hard about flying inferior kites (one of the hyper stacks went into the ocean after breaking a leading edge) and trying to convince them that they should be flying Revs... makes good sense to me!
Another highlight was getting to hang out with Randy Tom and Ray Wong all day on Friday... Randy led an appliqué seminar assisted by Ray. And after seeing Randy at work and getting to make my own kite (each of the seminar participants created a Randy Tom designed appliquéd kite), I just had to have one of his masterpiece revs :-)
Looking forward to seeing many of you again this weekend in Wilmington!
Here's a pic of me and Ben flying and a couple of my latest Rev...
