#82943 Terminology and Definitions

As in flying on roof tops (get permission first), same goes for bridges as gusts can kill.
3D = anything where the kite flys beyond the "normal" window. See also Street flying and Indoor flying.

hi folks,
i do not know why, but some weeks ago some guys from germany startet
to weigh their rev-spars out.
we had to see, that the spars have tolerances up to 5 grams (3-wrap).
but, i was shocked, when i saw the pictures of an experiment
that one guy made.
he tested the "deflection" of 2-wraps. i do not know,
whether "deflection" ist the perfect technical term, but the picture
will show you what i mean.
here it is:
the used weight on both spars is exactly 625 grams.
the outer diameter of the front spar is 7.3 mm, the back spar is 7.45 mm.
the weight of the front spar is 12 grams, the back one weighs 15 grams.
seeing the weight, i considered the front spar to be a "race rod"
with wrong sticker on it.
i think, if one buys a kite like the 1.5 "b-series" including such spars, these tolerances are not acceptable!
give it a try!
check your spars!
please excuse my bad english! i have to come to the states
and exercise a little. (speaking and flying) ;-)
Hi Chewbaka,
I would only worry if
I fin the wind changes take away much of teh varience in rods. An dsewing tolerances by anyone and cloth differences adn line stretch etc etc.. And most imprtat of all the person at the end of the line and there ability.
If I had enough rods to check then I would match my rods, because I'm the kind of person who would.
I would also tie all the bridles and do all the lines and ensure all team flyers use identical leaders on thier handles.
(OK so on the Blasts, I've done the bridles, we have identical Leaders & I did about 6 or 7 sets of lines... Just off to check the rods

Please come along and have a look The Flying Squad then just follow the links to Gallery 2009, you'll see loads of links to the various events. Each one has a page with a quick description, then the gallery. ENJOY
Edit, I've simplified the Gallery for 2009, and hope to repeat for 2010. Also I've changed some of the images and we have a lot more of the personalities from events

#60873 How to make new lines
Posted by Simon
on 06 November 2009 - 09:23 AM
I guess the length is only critical if you team fly otherwise the length only needs to be approximate.
This is why Gary lets me make as many sets as possible ! And I enjoy making lines.
I made ALL our dual Line sets, so you could if you wanted swap a single line between any of the sets and they are the same.
Same idea with the Quad sets, I know I made 6 plus sets (its a lot of line !!!), these sets are now combined with our Custom Team handles, with the leaders which are our own dimension (basically no adjusting on the bottom lines, its ALL on top.
I'm from the Old School on this and like the "kit" to be set up the same

Hi JB, You know you are in the photo, looking at this again I think I got your age wrong, maybe 15 or 16?
But who's that girl between you and Scot (UK STACK Flyers should remember her!!)
BTW who is the team in the Background
For those that didn't know That is Paul Jobin, The lady with him is Kate Markham, the black trousers therefore would be Bob Markham or Dom Early. I cant remember the name of the guy with the 90's sunglasses.
