What am I doing or not doing right, when I click on a emoticon, i get text instead of the picture , how do I correct that?

are you on a Mac?

Might be a browser setting that is blocking the image.
Try loading the same page in another browser and see what happens.
e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, and etc.
If it works in one or more of those browsers, then it likely that it is a browser setting.

I may be stating the obvious here, but just in case there is a big pink elephant in the room, I take it you do realise they do show as text delimited by colons until you actually click post?

I think what I was doing is trying to add emoticon right after a punctuation mark, instead of putting a space inbetween???
Operator error!!!! or could be without a punctuation mark??? Not sure but its working.
