If you were down on the big kite end of the fields, you would have seen the last of us flying down on field "B"! We ended up with 3-4 of us as the wind died!! I pulled out my Zen for dealing with the dying winds! My friend Katrina had her "alien" kite out, made of reflective material with a long tail! Sari also used her Zen! We were the last on the field, that I know of! Wound up just before dark!

Hope to see you at LC!!

Greetings, Well I may be a couple of years late on this reply, but heck, I'm a new member of this forum. Exile, if you are still around, I'm in Whitefish, MT and a new/ old rev owner and a new rev flyer. I've been flying 2 line kites for a long time, but usually only when I can find time to get to Lincoln City, OR, or to Long Beach, WA. In case you are unaware, Whitefish is the worst place in the world to live if you fly kites...no wind! Any way, I was lucky enough to meet a really cool young lady at this year's International Kite Festival in Long Beach who happens to be a major player at Revolution Kites by the name of Lolly. After being amazed by the old, and I do mean old Rev II kite I bought about 18 to 20 years ago that has never been flown, she helped me get into a 1.5 rev that is designed for very light wind areas. Guess what? It flies so beautifully even for me! Now I'm hooked on flying Revs!! If you are still around Exile, or if there are any other kite flyers, especially Rev flyers around either in Mt, Northern ID or the Spokane WA area, I would love to hear from you and maybe set up a time to go fly together. I think that would be fantastic!!! Rick (mtgrizzly52)

Yes! I remember you! Glad you found the forum and posted. Yes, lots of great people in the Rev family! Hope you can make it to the LC Fall Festival!

Hi Theresa,

I just wanted to thank you for trying to help me while taking care of business at the same time. Matching me up with Penny was a great deal for me to get my lines measured and in getting that sweet new REV up in the air. That girl can sure make a kite dance *smiles* It's looking more and more positive about coming out to Lincoln City as my wife is really getting into the idea of going back to one of our most favorite places in the world.

In the meantime, I will probably getting a set of short lines from you for the REV so I can have a better chance of flying that new kite in windless part of the Northwest I live in.

Wayne,

By the time you guys were at that end of the field, I had already left. My brother-in-law from Portland showed up unexpectedly and the "Boss" decided we were going to take him to dinner. As a result, I missed out on a great opportunity to meet and fly with you.

I sent a msg to CJ aka exile, since he's not on the forum much. But he still flies kites, and needs people to fly with. He'll be getting in touch with you! :)

Just pretend all my statements are prefaced with IIRC, AFAIK, IMHO, and end with "Just my $.02," okay?
(And stop asking for cookies, all you new darkside converts! It was all just a ruse to get you here!)

Thank you for contacting exile. I'll be looking forward to hearing from him.

Also for all that I've had the pleasure to meet and talk to on this forum, My wife and I will be coming to Lincoln City for the Oct 5, 6 Kite Festival. We are really looking forward to getting back to Lincoln City since our vacation there last month was shortened by several days. We will be staying at Sailor Jacks, just a ways down the beach from where the festival will be held. I am looking forward to meeting as many people there as possible, especially those I've met here.

Hi Rick, don't forget, there is also the annual American Kitefliers Association annual Convention in Seaside, 2nd week of October (8-13). smile.png

http://www.kite.org/convention

Lots of friendly, top notch kite folks, and Spence Watson (Rev phenom) is giving Rev lessons to registered attendees on Saturday. smile.png

Learn to Fly a Rev: Rev 101

Spencer “Watty” Watson; Saturday

This workshop is intended to enable new Rev fliers to enjoy flying Revs in their own time with minimal frustration. The workshop will explain some of the varieties in equipment like venting, handles, and lines; set up and take down procedures including line management; as well as basic flight including some tips for easy recovery, and additional bits to keep in mind to make the most of your time on the kite field. Any time left after covering the intended material may be used for open Q&A or individual coaching.

One of the biggest events of the year. kid_content.gif

John,

Thanks for the reminder for the convention. We are going to try and attend for at least a couple of days. Right now, because of my Mom's medical conditions, I'm not locking into anything just in case we have to drop everything and head for the airport to get back home.

Also, because of the trip to the WSIKF our travel budget is straining just to get to Lincoln City. In spite of that I do have hotel reservations in Seaside for the convention week just in case. I'm not sure what to do about the conference fee at this time in case we have to leave either ahead of or during the convention.

Regardless, we are going to try our best to be there. There is so many people I want meet and watch fly which definitely includes meeting you. Also I would love the opportunity to get some instructions from Watty. What a great opportunity!!!

Anyway, we will do our best to be there!

Well, I thought we were going to be in Lincoln City for the fall festival next weekend, but when you have an 84 year old mother, your plans can get changed without notice. My mom has to be in the hospital from this Wednesday until who knows when for a "possible" leg amputation. If the last change surgery on her arteries doesn't work, or if there are any complications they will be taking her remaining leg. This is something we have been dreading, but there is no other options now. There is also a very good chance she might not survive the procedures, so we have to be there, in spite of really wanting to be with all of you at the festival.

Have fun all and gets of lots of line time! We will be thinking about you all.

Thank you Wayne. I will be in Lincoln City for the June festival come hell or high water. The only thing that will keep me away is if I find my obituary in the paper before then and I'm just too mean to allow that to happen!

Have fun!!!
