Hi,

Seeking opinions on any experiences for hybrid rods for a full sail BPro. In certain fields where we fly, we often encounter bad winds that may just drop down to 2-3mph and gusts up to probably 10 - 12mph or so. In those situations, a STD sail with race rods is too overpowering during gusts and a mid vent with race rods may lose too much power during lulls,

I'm contemplating a mix of race rods + 3 wrap on a STD BPro sail for those conditions. Any suggestions? 3 wrap center rest race rods, or race center 3 wrap top left and right race verticals, or full 3 wrap leading edges and race rods verticals? Asking specifically for team based flying as we cannot afford to have the kite underpowered too much, hence the lack of a mid vent as a choice.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Darryl

It may help. If you try this, my recommendation would be to use a 3 or 4 wrap center and leave the rest as Race, it's the center flex you want to be wary of.

You may be fine with full two wrap frame. That would be stiffer than the race rods without adding appreciable weight. You lose the flex for loading up in the lightest wind, but you're going to lose even more of that flex if you go to a 3 or 4 wrap center.
