When we hooked up, the water spigot was frozen, but I was able to get it loose with some hot water from the trailer. We let it drip all night and had no further problem with water, However, at about 8 pm the electricity went out and is still out as of 2.07 pm. Fortunately, we have been dry camping in Quartzsite, Arizona for ten days, so have our Honda 2000 with us to keep batteries charged in the trailer and run necessary stuff like the Espresso coffee maker.
We have not left the RV park yet today, so electrical problems may be more local, like just within the park, don't know, but will check it our later.
The clouds just parted and the sun is out!!
Wind and temps are supposed to be good for Saturday and Sunday, so we are planning to fly.
Saw Steve D, Monkey and Bazzer yesterday at the kite shop. Willow is with them, but John B was still in Las Vegas, and TK in Portland as of 3 pm yesterday, Thursday, so don't know if they will be able to get here.

Lynn and I got to the KOA on South Padre Island on Thursday about 11:30 am. On the way down HWY 77, there were numerous single car accidents caused by folks driving too fast on the bridge overpasses. Some of the highway was closed, and traffic was routed along the frontage road (old Hwy 77).

This includes the area where the indoor is to take place this evening. We'll see.

Today, Saturday was the first day of the kite festival. Sunny and warm all day with very nice wind. We flew three “demos” for the crowd (about 3,000), and there were other fliers, local and long distance, who flew as well. Later in the afternoon we had a Rev mega fly. We had 14 fliers and it was fun, fun, fun.
All day the sky was filled with large colorful kites on the big kite field. Very beautiful.
Tonight is the fliers banquet. Should be a fun time.
Tomorrow is supposed to be about like today. Oh dear, what shall we do?
Life is good, Jim

Indoor fly went great. Saturday and Sunday, the sun came out, had near perfect winds. Saturday was in the 60s and Sunday in the 70s. It's been a long time since we've had two great days of flying. Thanks so much to all of y'all who came and joined us for this festival. Some of you had to jump through hoops to get here, and we really appreciate all you went through to get here. Our spectators really enjoyed everything for sure.
Hope to see all of you again soon!!! Really enjoyed the mega fly with iQuad and the Kite Kids!!!

TK and I are infinitely glad we pushed through and made it... One would never have guessed there was an ice storm at all, based on the weekend weather, it was gorgeous on both Saturday and Sunday (down to t-shirts midday).
There is darned good reason SPI received the "Best Kite Festival of 2010" award from the KTAI.
