While Mr JB is showing off his new mini-sized rev, I'm off down the one-way path of a monster. Sorry Joe, I missed the snippet of me attaching the lines, its on the other camera, so I'll just have to upload that tomorrow.

Tak's gonna be all kinds of mad at me cuz I'm spoiling his fun, but oh well, I gotta brag.

Aww...I didn't get to put all my "see what you get..." lines in with it!
We've had the 2-4 for awhile now, and much of the time there isn't QUITE enough wind for it.
I got to yap at Joe for a bit as we were setting the 4-8 up for the maiden voyage. While Syn actually did a great job the first time up, which is normal, as she is just one of those people who has that knack, I wanted to say something for the people who are used to a 2-4 and are thinking of getting a 4-8:
THIS THING IS A MONSTER! It is a completely different beast and make sure you actually want to be pulled around before you launch the 4-8. It isn't anything like a 2-4, where you can fly it around easily without being dragged off your feet...
I flew the 4-8 for about 5 minutes and, having the nerve damage I do, found that this really isn't for the "casual" flying time. LOL ... I guess there are people who trick fly the 4-8, I am just not one of them. The 4-8 is made to pull you around, and it does just that.
If you're looking for a traction kite, the 4-8 can't be beat if you want the control that only our beloved Revs can have.
I will stick to my B-Pro and such and my better 3/4 can fly the 4-8, which was the intention in the first place...lol

Nice!!!

Trust me...I was laughing my A** off while I was filming that. She would find the "sweet spot" and it would pull her forward with no problem.
You gotta understand, Syn (in the video) is small enough that she can sit on the grass and be pulled across the park by a shockwave...lol
I love filming her skiing with the Revs. You can't tell how small she is unless you're there, but I couldn't think of a better birthday present for her than the Blast 4-8. It's a pricey kite, but hey...I don't have enough time to play around, so I wanted her to have the best.

Gotta understand that this video was the first time we had the 4-8 out. It always surprises me when she just picks up a kite and starts flying it with no one up here to say "this is how you do this."
I had put it together when I gave it to her. (She came home from work to see it taking up our whole living room.)
It's not the easiest kite to assemble in the wind if you don't get to watch the video first. "Remember the dots dear!"
If you're used to a 2-4 and think it's going to be the same thing, yer in for a surprise.

Brilliant!
A kite we see far too little of, to tell the truth.
Love flying my PB 2-4, can only imagine what the biggest brother of all, is like to fly even on those light wind days ....hamma hamma!!!
Chris
Wind was averaging 3-5mph that day. Maxing at 7. Then there is the "variable" when the wind is swapping from South to East every 30 seconds, so you gotta keep the kite into the wind, which is why she wasn't just constantly moving.
When you get that much pull at 5mph, it's actually a bit worrying to me when she starts wanting to go out to the glacier (We're in Alaska, if you haven't worked that out yet.) and the weather station there says winds of 20-45...lol

Let me know when she gets up on the Glacier and I will put the kettle on, just in case the wind is blowing my way.

I will definitely be there with the camera ... and hoping there's a lifeflight close by.
We have one of her with the 2-4. Posted it somewhere, but I'll throw it over again. It wasn't great wind that day, but it did the trick. Works better full screen at youtube. I was about a half mile away flying my B-Pro with a gazillion tails onnit.

It looks like they changed the sail pattern for the 4-8 somewhat. Or is that a custom?

As far as I know its stock, the pattern probably updated with the 2-4.
