Hi Syn Taks
is that Syn and Tak?

i thought it was cold here -2c feels like -8c and at least 1inch / 25cm of snow
convert to f and it looks warmer

i'm definately not going flying in that , quick 1 - 2 hour walk with dogs and we are are back inside for the rest of the day

Yeah. My wife is Syn, I'm Tak. Worked great for when we were building websites...Called it SynTaks. :P

10f here right now. It *IS* Alaska, so cold just comes with the state in the Winter. 1-2 hour walk with the dog? You could be flying the kite for 1-2 hours!

Generally in the Winter, I fly at spots where I can set up right next to the truck so I can hop out, fly till I get cold, jump back in and warm up. Repeat. Besides, that also gives me something to play on with the kite. People are impressed when you do a wingtip landing on a car for some reason...lol

When you move from Minnesota to Florida just to fly on the beach and be closer to other Rev fliers and the first thing you do after the move is buy a Rev Power Blast and can't wait for it to get delivered so you can go sand skiing even though you have only flown SLE's maybe eight times and have no clue what your doing.

Now I have to go find a job to pay my rent.

You look at scenic pictures on the computer and think that some would be a beautiful place to fly. Of course, many times you have no idea where that picture was taken. Could stop there but WHY.

You wonder what the scene would look like with a Rev flying in it? Why not?

So, you find a picture of a Rev you would love to own some day and you find a snow scene since its winter. You insert the Rev into the snow scene, change perspective a little, add flying lines (that was challenging) and add Christmas lights because it tis the season.

I decide to play with Google Earth to show my FB friends where it is I spend all my time. I went there and typed in the address: "1301 West 100th Avenue, Anchorage, AK" ... They have something called "Street View" ... The little yellow guy icon on the left side of the map. (You have to drag it onto one of the blue map lines there.) When I clicked and dragged in a circle, I was looking at the church there and realized that the PU truck parked there looked familiar. I zoomed in on the picture and realized that was MY truck, and not only that, there was ME, flying my rev. You know you're addicted when you are forever on google earth flying your rev kite!

The link leads to the street view shot. Look close...lol

http://maps.google.c...8.46,,0,-4&pw=2

You can't zoom on the link photo like you can on street view.

Considering the types of trees and the vapor trails, I wouldn't doubt that is somewhere north of 55 degrees....lol

MBRO - Thanks , Glad you liked the picture

I am just learning to use this image manipulation program. Have to experiment to see what else I can come up with.

Good thing to learn to do in the winter when it is pouring down rain.

SYNTAKS - It's surprising and great you could find your kite in the air and truck on Goggle Earth.

I have used Goggle Earth, satellite, and street views a lot checking out parks in my area looking for places to fly. ( I guess that would fit on this addicted topic also)

I have tried Bing maps also. Never have known how old the images are on either Goggle or Bing. Satellite views do tend to make things look like nice flat ground when it isn't.

I also found that street views aren't available for every street or road.

SKYHOOK: On Google Earth, if you click on the little clock in the tool-bar, you will get a time-line which tells you when the imagery was photographed. Also useful for tracking changes as far back as their earliest imagery. (If you aren't using the tool-bar, you can find it under the VIEW menu as Historical Imagery. You can also turn on the tool-bar in the VIEW menu.)
