I had to change my poll answers because I am now the proud owner of a few more Rev kites.

I purchased a JB 1.5 non vented, and a Sedgwick Rev 1 in the warm color. I'm hopeing the Sedgwick is going to let me fly in lighter winds, and be a little more forgiving.

My skills continue to improve useing the 1.5 SLE, but I think it's time to put away the big leading edge and go for something lighter.

Lolly at Rev has been very nice and helpful, ans as Kent with Winds of Change.

I am looking forward to meeting some Rev flyers soon, and am enjoying the obsession.

Hi Adam-

Why not have a different kite for each day of the week, or for that matter, each day of the month? Oh wait, we fly more than one kite in a single day, how would that equate??????

I've been flying Revs for about 2.5 years. I didn't own one, in fact, never had seen one in person when I went to a Rev Clinic. I was hooked when I saw some videos before deciding to go to the Rev Clinic!

The rest, as they say, is history.

btw, who is "they"??????? lol

The Rev collection is building fast.

Started with the 1.5 SLE
Bought a Sedgewick Rev 1 from Winds of Change
Bought a B Series from Winds of Change
Bought a Randy Tom Masterpiece from Revolution
Picked up a second hand first generation Rev 1

Right now I like to fly the Randy Tom and the B series the best, although the Sedgewick is nice, and will be much better when I get the right frame in place. The sedgewick currently has the SLE, and I think it's way too regid. Same with the 1.5 SLE. The kites seem to fly much nicer (less twitchy) with the 1/4 " frames.

Today I flew is some very strong and gusty winds, and was of course thinking I would need a vented so it would'nt be so eratic in the gusty conditions.

My skills are improving, but am still having a difficult time hovering inverted, among other things. I can do the dive and stop manuver with proficiency, although I am staying about 5 to 10 feet off of the ground, and the kite instantly turns leading edge up.

Well, this is cheaper than flying the airplane .

Concerning most consumables, I'm definitely a "function-over-form" guy. I'd rather have it work perfectly than look exceptional.
That being said, I'd own just one good looking kite IF it flew in every condition, and if it was easy and physically comfortable to handle during EVERY condition. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and I am forced to buy several different, sharp looking Revs! Mind you, it's only so I can fly at-will.

The different Revs are like tools in my hands for dealing with varying wind conditions. I own several Revs now because I believe in having the right tool for the job. You wouldn't use a screwdriver to cut a tree down would you? Or use a hammer to mix cake batter? Er um neither would I. While the standard-sail does fly in an incredible amount of conditions, I need the comfort of my vented Rev over 10 mph. And while the standard-sail will fly below 3 mph, the Zen does it better on the 120s with less movement on my behalf. Etc etc

When angling for a new Rev as a present, it helps to know your audience. Many of the posts in this topic have good tips for explaining to your audience why one Rev is not enough, even if your audience happens to be yourself

Nobody expects a golfer to justify carrying more than one club, why should it be any different for a Rev flier?

only your most special secret weapon kites will be allowed to ride in that "A-bag",... and why hurt your back!

after a while,
you'll have to move some of those cherished loved ones out of your A-bag,
so you can make room for newer models

you'll be encouraged to release some of those great, but older models because
they never get flown and you can use the currency for new adventures in quad-lined kiting

It's March, so the wife said I could order another Shook mesh for myself. I have some special fabric which I'm going to have incorporated (PLEASE) and also request a special leading edge. It's so much fun to talk with the builder and get it exactly as you want it. Congrads on your most excellent addition to the kite bag Adam, we all want to give it a spankin'
