I think that we should define the arena size in accordance with the WSIKF one last week.

I think that high tide would be the limitation at Berck and that 300ft would be the maximum available. I will check with Gérard.

Hi John,
I thought that 100 meters was the STACK field size. 100 meters is a bit over 300 feet so we should be good subject to determining the location and negotiating a 'local' PA system.

High tide overlaps the water side boundary by a few feet, but that's it, and only during high tide... Low tide leaves TONS of room.

The Berck arena was a bit larger then a ISK team standard of 110x110 meters which the ISK quotes as being 360x360 feet. So, I would restate that as 150x150 meter and possibly as much as 200x200 meters. If Ray was flying 40 meter (130 feet roughly) lines, that would put the beach depth for that particular high tide at no more then 240 meters(roughly 780 feet) considering a 200x200 meter arena. Now for a 150x150 meter field that would reduce down to about 190 meters(roughly 620 feet).
Did I get that right now?

I have been in contact with Gérard again as enquiries about accommodation seemed to suggest that Berck was fully booked already!
Gérard tells me that he is OK to go ahead with a Revolution event and will be able to help with reservation of accommodation.
He will provide details next weekend at Bristol.

Hi Baz,
I have asked Gérard about this. The document came directly from the Tourist office, not from Gérard. I had asked the tourist office about booking for the festival period. If there are no vacancies I will ask the Tourist Office how to proceed <grins>

has anyone else tried booking any hotels in Berck recently and if so have you had any success
Ideally i would like to be in a hotel near the beach
so i can park up and forget the car for the whole of the festival

I tried a couple this morning and there was minimal availability. I have e-mailed the Tourist Office asking if they have details of bookable accommodation for the festival period 16th - 25th April 2011 in Berck.

Here is the response from the Tourist Office. (<EDIT> It being Easter week this is hardly surprising...)
Felix
Dear Sir,
Yes I know this is difficult to book a hotel during this period.
How many days do you want to stay in Berck?
If you stay here for a week you can call the Voltaire which is in the center
and near the beach. http://levoltaire.fr/
I also recommend you a Bed and Breackfast called "La Renardière" in the
center too http://larenardiere6...sommairefr.html
Or You can rent a flat here is the list.
Yours Faithfully
Adrien Duflos
