I will now pause and wonder if we are talking at cross purposes here. This is a collaborative undertaking. We all have an over riding interest in making a success of it so will all try to help our fellow fliers succeed in their efforts.

Felix

I think we are all on the same page.

The support group is just for us that have more than a little nerves going into this. We can face the it as a group knowing we all feel the same way.

No drinking and flying! That part was the joke.

Bart,

Thanks for your message.

In the same spirit I wonder who should be more nervous and in need of the support group, you or I? I think that you sum it up perfectly 'we all feel the same way'.

Joke or otherwise, I'll probably need an adult beverage at some point in the undertaking.

Is there going to be a party? Do we need to book a venue for the Saturday night? <grins>

I think something on Saturday would be appropriate regardless of the outcome.

Alden does still run a bit heavy on the forward... Sorry buddy, but it's true and Felix has a point. :)

Regardless of anyone's personal style though, there's going to be fun a'plenty and learning for everyone!

Of course there will be a party Saturday night, It is my wifes birthday that day!

I am at a loss for words when it comes to describing how much I am looking forward to WSIKF this year. To be able to welcome so many fellow fliers to my home state, and country, has me vibrating in anticipation. To be able to wrap lines with you all is almost more than I can imagine.

Heres to wishing everyone safe travels on your way to WSIKF, whenever and where ever you begin your adventure! :blue-music:

From what I have read I am convinced you will be taking that adult beverage in celebration not to drown out any sorrows and I am looking forward reading about it.

Do me a favour though please. Obviously anything you write will be posted in the appropriate thread but could you also either double post or cross post it into A Make-Weight’s View of the Mega Grid. I put a lot of work into writing the opening missive and it is my hope that if others add to it, it will eventually become an ongoing Forum Resource for those mega grid virgins that follow.

Do you mean before, during and after the actual mega-fly? You don't want this general chatter on there do you?

Hello All-

How can you not be excited about everything related to this week of flying? I can't wait to meet all of you I've come to know through the forum, see old friends and meet some new ones.

Hi Alden-

The numbers will change, but the grid action is just like what Scott did in Wildwood. Sooooooooooooooo, no worries, baby.... you'll rock it out there Posted Image .

iQuad and Island Quad-

East meets West again..... can't wait to see you all!!!!!Posted Image Posted Image xoxo

Hi Felix-

I'm truly psyched to meet you and your teammates and the others coming from across the pond. You guys are legendary in the Rev world, so I can't wait to meet and fly with you guys and learn from some of the "masters".

Posted Image Does it sound like I'm excited? hmmmmmmmm

See you all in a few weeks.

I have a problem getting excited because it won't be possible for me to go to WSIKF this year.
It has been on my list since 1989 or was it 1988, when I received my first invitation.
Maybe some day.

For people flying in, I'll be driving right past Seatac Wednesday early evening so, if you need a lift down to Long Beach, get in touch. I'll be driving back Sunday afternoon too!

A little excited? YES, YES I AM!

Is there a registration for this festival? Or is that just an east coast thing?

The main thing you need to remember to do when you get to the festival, is to sign up on the AKA sheet for your fliers wristband, required for AKA insurance. Beyond that there is no registration, unless you are competing or are a officially recognized festival guest.

This brings up another dumb question, will there be a AKA insurance fliers sign up sheet at our end? Or do we need to make our way north to the Bolstad approach (.38 mile!) to get on the fliers signup? Granted it is a nice walk on the boardwalk.........

Do you need to be an AKA member to sign up or what is the scoop there? I am assuming people do not need to AKA members to fly a kite.

Correct, you don't have to an AKA member.

Hi Laura,

I'm looking forward to meeting with everyone. I'm thinking of setting out to get everyone's autograph, (signature and a few lines about the event) and giving the resulting document to Drachen Foundation as a record of our participation/the event. I have not figured out the logistics of this yet.

I first attended WSIKF with The Decs in 1994. It is a slightly different line-up of four fliers this time round <grins>

Now if that could be a white REV with autographs, it would really be nice for the Drachen Foundation.

Correct, you don't have to an AKA member.

So you won't need an AKA bracelet for insurance purpose to be in the field flying kites? Is that correct John?

Hi John,

I was actually thinking of the value of the individual contributor's observations rather than the 'object' upon which it might be inscribed. <grins>
