Great times, sweet wind, see all of you again soon I hope,.. Thanks for a fantastic festival
Ocean City & in particular Jay Knerr!

I've gotta "work" for a couple days in row (sequentially!),
then off again for another festival, but this one was truly a grand time. There were a bunch of different directions to go for kite-related fun activities on the beach, a camera buff's dream. The quad-heads were much more of a family than as separate groups/individuals (trying to impress each other as in the past). The competitions were more about soul flying and companionship too, everyone had smiles and some newbies stepped-up as well.

The weather held off almost completely and Barbara enjoyed herself too (I tried to be responsive to her needs & desires for a change!!)
Travel safely and again, great seeing al of you,
best regards,
-paul

What can I day that hasn't been said?? :)

Super event Jay, top notch all the way!

I'm also really proud of all the Rev flyers who took part in the mega flies... Everyone keeps on getting more skilled, y'all really make it enjoyable to lead such a group... I'm especially proud of the newer folks who jumped right in there, despite the smell of urine (joke re the newbies). <grin>

Rev Riders, awesome... Getting better every time, keep it coming. :D

Let's do it all over again sometime! Until then, I hope to see many of at WSIKF in August.

Deepest regards to all. :)

I'll add to a couple of remarks here (beyond, OMG what a great time that was!)

It's been two years since I have been to the East Coast "proper" and I was really impressed with how far all the flyers have come in their flying. We saw it time and time again in the megaflys. They were some of the most consistent megaflys I have ever been a part of. You east coast people ROCK!

Wow! That just about says it all. Three days of kite flying in Ocean City made for one spectacular event. With the perfect winds and perfect weather on the perfect beach certainly made the Maryland Int'l Kite Expo one to remember for a life time. Not only did we have huge crowds in OC but we had something no one else on the entire east coast had. The" iQuad Bubble". Apparently this phenomenon kept a weather shield over Ocean City allowing us to have one fantastic kite festival. There were demos, kite lessons, giant kites, competitions, dual and quad kites, Rok battles, you name it we had it. Of course no festival would be complete without a lot of good people making it happen. I truly appreciate all of the kite flyers that made MIKE a tremendous success this year. I personally want to thank the following individuals for all of the support and help they willingly offer:

Team iQuad - John, Steve, TK, Joji, Monkey and Bazzer
Rev Riders - Scottie, Rich, Laura and Sammy
Gomberg Kite Productions - Susan Gomberg, Jeff Burka, Jeff and Joyce King,
Dennis Hawley and Dale Ray
Fog Flyers - Rich Miller and Jo-Ann Rasmussen
Ben Dantonio from Revolution Kites
Sky Dog Kites- Jim Christianson, Jim Cosca, Frank Morill and Dodd Gross
The Sky Dog Band - Jim, Mike and Jason
HQ Kites - Chris Shultz and Craig
Focus Kites – Paul de bakker, Lisa Willoughby and Jared
Marc Conklin and Terry Murry - Eastern League
Gary and Maggie Engvall and Mike and Janette Van Meers
Cath and Elliot Shook – Flying Smiles Kites
Paul Le Masters and Barbara Birnman
Dave Soutar
Paul Dugard
Alan Ault and Evelyn
And a Big Thank you goes out to all of our Sponsors:
Shenanigans
Town of Ocean City
Alaska Stand
Shoreham Hotel
Comfort Inn

Each and everyone of you that attended were truly awesome.

This year we saw the return of the Mid-Atlantic Stunt Kite Championships (MASKC). I want to again thank Marc Conklin, Terry Murray and Maggie Engvall and all of the competitors that flew in the event for bring the competition back. MASKC is an integral part of MIKE and in my opinion it make this event complete. I could not have done it without your help. My goal is to continue to build this event so we offer something for all types of kite enthusiasts.

Today we begin the planning for next year's Kite Expo. Please let me know whether you loved this festival or your suggestions for improvement. Good or bad we would like to hear from you. You can post it here or on www.facebook.com/kiteloft or send me an email at info@kiteloft.com.

Thanks again for making this years event so successful...

Jay

Jay

Jay,

I loved this festival. Getting to meet and fly with iQuad was a major factor in my decision to attend and my enjoyment of the event. I always enjoy seeing and flying with the Rev Riders and my other friends from the east coast, but it was a special treat to have John & the gang there. Do it again next year with the same people, and I will probably show up again.

Next time get the TV weather reports to take into account the iQuad bubble. They almost scared me out of a great flying day on Sunday. Luckily, your prediction proved more accurate and and after conferring with JB we postponed our side trip to Assateague until Monday. Barb had a good time seeing the ponies and birds on Monday, while I got more mega-flying experience on Sunday.

I still can't believe I never made it down to the Rev field for some team flying! Hell, I never even opened my Rev bag, thought it spent the entire weekend on the beach next to the rest of my gear. We were just having too much fun up on the show kite field.

I did spend a lot of time looking North at the all the Revs, though, and y'all looked great.

Jay, thanks for a fantastic event!

I had a great time!

As usual I got a little frustrated with my flying skills...

But hanging out with everyone and flying was too much fun. As Ben says, it's like hanging out with family.
I missed Boardwalk Joe's but we got to go to Fat Daddy's and meet a fooba from DTA who was shwasted. Posted Image

I'll see everyone in Wildwood.

The injokes sound hysterical, btw. I will have to grill some of you in Wildwood about them! ;D

I finally got a chance to process and upload some photos of MIKE 2010. They are in my gallery at:
http://www.revkites....album&album=430
If this link fails, just follow the link in my signature.

Thanks to my lovely wife Barb who took many of them and to the great old and new friends who made this event so memorable. Favorite memories include hanging and flying with iQuad and Rev Riders (you guys are all wonderful people to spend a weekend with), the fun evenings at Shenanigans with so much laughter (Monkey, you look great in that hat), Paul Deguard's ducks, megaflys and getting to improve my skills with the best of the best, and seeing my wife excited to make progress with her flying.

I still have some video that I hope to edit and share when I get around to it.

As always, if anyone wants a full resolution version of any of these, PM or email me.
