FYI for those of visiting our wonderful northwest.
Across the Columbia river in Oregon is the town of Warrington. It has a Fred Meyers store.
It is kinda like K-mart and Target if you need to buy some items like the radios, clothes, camping gear, etc.
And it has a Costco.
And Oregon does not have sales tax.

Good news indeed!

Looks like Ben D has appeared in duplicate though...

Well, looks like there are 50 now. Half way there! <grins>

I wonder if other European or Japanese teams will step up to match the Australians?

Is it possible to offer any advice in respect of getting accommodation in Long Beach? Even for those of us who have been there previously this is not a trivial issue... The Decs are provisionally sorted but others may appreciate pointers.

http://www.funbeach....ging/index.html gives some clues!

JB,

You have pulled the duplicate Ben D I see.

2 Bens may have been more than we could cope with. <grins>

Is there any word about USA visitors to Berck 2010 at this stage?

No word on this end, it doesn't look likely... Just too expensive, most of our teams are still "start ups" or leisure flying groups.

Ah! Here is the thread that I was looking for. <grins>

Is there any further news? Are any other European teams going to commit? Maybe we will be able to discuss plans at Berck or Cervia...

We saw Seb from Flic at Kite Party, he said he's 90% on for attending, says that Ben and 1-2 others are considering it as well...

Will keep you posted as I hear more. :)

See if you can nail down who will be able to make it to WSIKF while you're there? ;)

'Gentle encouragement' may be more appropriate than 'nailing down' <grins>

As you well know, and state just a little bit back up this thread, cross Atlantic travel is expensive...

I wonder if we could, apart from the 4 person Decs team, the TFS and FLIC presence, put together an EU team? It is a long shot... however it looks like the Europeans will be making a significant contribution to numbers anyway.

I am looking at the possibility of being there from Tuesday through the Saturday. I just need to come up with some economic housing and get my return flight changed from NB, CA to WA and then back home.

FYI, we put up a column of 10 pilots at our clinic last weekend and had room to spare vertically... Horizontal thread was fine.

I'm guessing we'll need no less than 6mph, ideally closer to 8mph to make it feasible for full grid formation.

At this point, given the right wind, 10x10 is within reach if we get enough fliers! :D

JB,

Thank you for this. I was always convinced that the 10 x 10 would be possible <grins>

Does every attempt at WSIKF need to be 10 x 10 or can we work towards that? Frankly 10 x 10 scares the Posted Image out of me. I don't know why.
