Just in case anyone is looking for the ideal shelter and base for the festivals
just been to decathlon and these are down from £79 to £29 (bargain)
easy to put up in no time at all (more time to fly)
easy to put away too

I dont know for how long though
I bought another one,too good to miss at that price

I'm wondering if pricing varies by store (if they have stock)? The London location was showing some offers on the tents.

Had mine for a few month's now, don't know how I managed without it, great for putting everyone's gear in so it does not get damp this time of year and also stop's people cluttering up the flying field with their bag's, with the risk that someone, a kiteflier or joe public standing on a kite or spar's

The Fling Squad have 3 + Bobs so we could put up 4 we got them after seeing Bris lst year ( make that 2 years ago ) great tents/base camp to put all that gear out of sight and shelter from the wet.

Weve had ours since they wher first out...Longer than Gary[a lot longer],Bob[years longer] and all the Flying Squad[copied us],,we were first anywher in the world[universe acyually], up North,dawn sawth,out west, back east.Everyone copied us,weve got three and will buy more .Just so we have more than the Flying Squad.Ours are better anyways.Ther Greenier,with detachable,enviro freindly flooring[custom made] and odour of Pumpkin and Tomatoe soup.Which makes them quicker to put up and down and ,,,well better than everyones.......Ask Bazza,,,,,so ther

YOURS are very Greeny coloured indeed
AND you do have THREE which is quite a high number.no really it is
The enviro friendly floor you put in at Ainsdale was very impressive IT LOOKED JUST LIKE REAL SAND very absorbent too
I would imagine the odour of pumpkin soup is enough for anyone to get the tents up sharpish just in case the soup ladies turn up with there wares (i can dream cant i)
I would also like to add that WE did NOT copy Bri at all when we bought ours after seeing his at Portsmouth,no honestly we didnt,positively not,oh no we wouldnt

But, but, but...

I hate these structures that proliferate alongside arena edges with poles and flags and all. Do these 'kitefliers'(?) know what they are doing?

The arena at Berck is ruined 'airflow wise' up to about 20 feet above the ground by that 'beautiful' line of flags at c100cm intervals.

As to those inflatable monstrosities at Portsmouth and Bristol I just do not know what the 'kite festival' organisers are thinking of.... (apart from the fees of course)

Fair point though on the affect of the Tents on ground wind Felix.Hadnt thought of that.Placed in mass in the wrong place.They could ruin a routines ground moves.

The truth is, they do ruin ground moves.

A line of people standing up are enough to ruin ground moves as we learned, long ago at Berck when the audience lined up either side of our team way down the beach in two great long lines. They were blocking us from going to the edge of the wind window as well...

No blame though, only education isn't it?

You are quite right! The other thing that we see is people insisting on driving their cars up to the flying field edge and hoping that the organisers will not ask them to remove them.

This <rant> could go on for a bit...

Under the quite appropriate 'Ideal Festival Base Tent' thread title I wonder if we could set about establishing some better practices....

Given that the better viewing point really is 'up-wind', maybe 'Base Tents' should be 'down-wind'? I appreciate that at some events this may not be practical but I know that you will all 'get the drift'.

This is something orgainsers really ought to consider, if they are supposed to be kite festivals seeing the kites would be an advantage.
The view at Bristol 08 for folk as they entered from the car park is an example, tents, shelters and vehicles along the full windward arena edge.
