Hi folks, our upgrades are 99.9% complete...

Just ironing out a good header, the clouds and logo are temporary.

Here is a very rough beginning concept for the header, being worked on by our admin extraordinaire, John Mitchell.

All feedback is welcome, but after nearly 42 hours awake, I'm going to decompress and sleep.

Peace out my quad homies! :D

I started on the header at 19:30 minus 12 is 7:30PM. What you see above is after 2.5 hours. It is very rough and needs quite a bit of tweaking. I should have a greatly improved header tomorrow. As I was doing hard labor in the garden all day, I am also crashing now with an aching back, legs and arms. Even my eyes are starting to burn.
I hope you all enjoy the NEW Forum. I really like it after crawling through it for hours both as admin and user.

Great job by the two Johns. I am acutely aware of Hofstadter's law - so glad you both managed to find your beds!
Looking forward to seeing the other skins, but really they're a 'nice-to-have' rather than critical functionality.

General comment: I see there are additional options in the user's "profile" - so worth reviewing and updating your settings...

You all take a look at the header image in JB's first message of this topic.
It shows the evolution of the Revolution which includes real images of various Rev kites over the last 21 years starting with Neos Omega and finishing with Zen.
This is what I am working on at this time.

Nice job guys, I was a bit worried about some of the scare stories I had been reading but you can’t stand in the way of progress and so far, from this user’s point of view this upgrade seems no more painless than a change of scenery.

As the optimist said when he fell from the roof of the Empire State Building, past each floor he was heard to say,

“So Far, So Good”

“So Far, So Good”

“So Far, So Good”

“So Far, So Good”

“So Far, So Good”

“So Far, So Good”

“So Far, So Good”

:)

Thanks guys, I know it's still early days but so far I've seen nothing I don't like about this and a couple of features that I do and the scenery is defiantly better.

I'm seeing some issues.

Clicking on a topic from the main Rev page crashes the browser. This is usually the only way I go in as the newest topics are right there.

I click "remember me", but it doesn't.

Clicking sign on to get the drop down box doesn't let me type anything in. Clicking in a field causes the box to close again. Need to go in a different way to sign on.

IE7 at work. Haven't tried it at home yet.

Can I change it to NOT go to the last post in a topic? I prefer first post.

Bart

One question: is there a setting to enable me to open photos in a new window or tab, rather than the animated window that overlays the forum now? I keep my browser window in a portrait-shaped aspect ratio and it makes closing the photo window a problem.

Looks like this is an issue. I'm sure it can be fixed. Clicking the thread title should take you to the start of the thread. Clicking the orange symbol to the left of the title (if there is one) should take you to the first unread post, and clicking the rightward facing arrow near the last post date, or the date, should take you to the last post of the thread.
