Just a quick heads up to all my homeys out there in forum land, we'll be upgrading to the latest version sometime in the next 48 hours... Log in, posting, etc will all still work just fine, but some of the images and such may require another day or two to customize/configure.

Please feel free to post here with any issues you experience, and you may find some items of use on the related discussion thread at Kitelife, from when we made our upgrade over there...

http://kitelife.com/...forum-upgraded/

We're upgrading this one to the same version, albeit styled and arranged for our needs over here.

It'll take a minute to adjust with the new layout, but it's worth it all around. ;)

Still trying to get my head round the Kitelife upgrade. Still you know what us OLD folks are like, stick in the mud and all that ;-)

One of my biggest issues with this format we have here now (as of this writing) is the limited ability to put content on the main forum index.

On this forum, we should have hot links to product info, references, videos, etc, all from the home page.

As it sits now, all that content is buried in the posts only.

After the upgrade I'll be looking to start work on a resource area accessible only to retailers, complete with product images, reference material, cheat sheets, selected video embeds available on YouTube, etc... Everything an average retailer may need to properly offer product and support their customers.

Those of you who are retailers here on the forum, I'd be greatly appreciative if you'd send me a PM or email with some of the things you'd like to be able to access and download for use in your store or web shop.

Why fix this "nothing is broken" that's all all good things come to an end I gather.

Was nice enjoying this forum while it lasted.

I have pretty much quit going to kitelife sense the changes. Too much trouble to find new post on different computers. I hope the main Rev page still has the latest post. I'll still miss some but at least I will keep coming back.

Oh well...I tried to get used to it on Kitelife, but I have to say I'm not a fan of that version, and it's affected how often I visit there.

i am reluctant to say that i also struggled with the new format and gave up for some weeks... told ben that i hope this one doesn't get a make-over...

the reason i am reluctant is that i am pretty sure you know what you are doing.

honestly i felt a sense of lose not reading kitelife as the opening of my day...
but the evolution is not always easy for everyone anyway.

now i am back home, maybe i will have a better chance to bring the kitelife forum into my morning /night routine.
love, as if you have never been hurt before.....

Unfortunately I would agree.
I couldn't find any of the postings on the Kitelife Forum. It always said none available. So I quit looking and only go to the Rev forum. I do miss the dual line forum :( Sorry but I just thought it was just me that was having an issue

Okay, backed everything up and put a stop order on the upgrade for now...

These have been some pretty vehement responses, acknowledged. :kid_cheerful:

First, I'm deeply sorry to hear that the changes on the Kitelife forum have been a problem.

I did the dry run on Kitelife as a testing ground for the new format and hadn't really gotten such a passionate outcry, wouldn't have considered recommending the upgrade otherwise... For now, no changes should be made (pretty sure), we can always go to back up, it's all good in the hood.

In my hustle and bustle this eve, I also became aware of a new template in the works which may very well be Invision's response to similar sentiments from other users, while allowing some of the expanded functionality we're looking for... Kitelife would again be the testing ground, easy enough to switch templates back on that one... I'll try to be more thorough in seeing how everyone feels about it. ;)

Stay tuned, rest easy, and thank you.

I am sort of sorry my post seemed to open the floodgates. However I am fairly sure reading the others that quite a few folks could / have made a similar response.

Thank you for listening John.

Please be assured that I for one, and I think I can speak for all that use the forum REALY appreciate all you put into it. If change is needed then change there should be.

One of he BEST reasons I cam possibly see for an upgrade is to make it easier for YOU to sort out and administer, with all the help you get from the other admin folks of course.

The point of this mail it to say a HUGE thank you to you and the others whose work go's on in the background. Especially for listening. Look forward to how things go. Hope to spend many more Years with all my Brothers and Sisters on here.

Seems like there are fewer new post on Kitelife since the format change. I find more new stuff on the GWTW forum. I have no issues with the current revkites forum format. Changes in forum formats is good only if it encourages people to use it:)

Thank you JB for holding back. I briefly mentioned a sentiment similar to those above to you at WSKIF and at the time you said the feedback overall had not been overwhelming one way or the other. I'm glad the people raised up the voices over here and more important than that , that you heard the cries and backed off for the time being.

Nice to know someone is listening! ;)

Thanks for holding off on that JB, Whew!!!!!!

I have to admit that I haven't been around the Kitelife forum as much due to the changes. While I have it figured out, it's just not as quickly navigable as this format. Sometimes you just want to quick check in and see what's going on.

I definitely second what Baloo said as well! :)
