Went to the park around 11am and only planned on spending an hour or 2 there. After battling shifty, turbulent wind (ahead of a front) I decided to pack it in and was shocked to learn I'd been out there for almost four and a half hours...WITHOUT SUNSCREEN! :o

My legs...(first time outside wearing shorts this year)...are the worst.

There's now a bottle of SPF 30 in the trunk of my car.

Don't forget the sunscreen, folks. Skin cancer is nothing to mess with!

(I also keep a large bottle of that green Aloe Vera gel in the fridge or sink one in the cooler when at the beach. Feels great after a day in the sun/wind)

Don't forget some good UV sunglasses either. Its amazing how fast your eyeballs can get burnt by staring up towards the sun all day.

48 hours later my skin has finally stopped burning.

Another thing about sunscreens/sunblocks is that you really need to put them on 20-30 minutes BEFORE going out in the sun as it supposedly takes that long for them to bind with the skin.

Between Big! Lots and the Dollar Tree, I'm set. All are sweatproof/waterproof "sport" versions.

Of course, for any benefit to occur you have to actually PUT THEM ON.

Take note the expiration date. Oxizone watchamacallit actually does expire and SPF 30 can turn into SPF 2... Just ask my poor ears two years ago!

I should have put on sunscreen. It's been SO cold lately. I didn't even think about it. I was flying while my left side was facing the sun. Half my face is red.

I usually toss the unused portion after 2 years.

Flew at the beach today. This time I was ready. I'd already applied Bullfrog SPF36 gel prior to making the 100 mile drive to Pawley's Island.

No burning, and BTW that bottle of sunscreen is several years old.
