Lolly sent these pics of some of our BKF Custom Rev 1.5's.

It is killing me that I have to wait two more day to see these kites!

Did they ship yet?? :)

Thanks again to Lolly, Ben and the rest of the Rev Crew for working overtime to make this all happen!

Four days and counting...

Kai, did you come say hello?

Did we get a chance to shake hands?

No, but I did see one of your performances from afar.

P1030421.JPG

That's a beautiful kite. But sorry, the octopi were cooler. :P

P1030534.JPG

Next year I shall have to make sure to seek you out, along with the rest of the forum crew. But I intend to bring my Revs, so naturally we'll meet.

Speaking of Revs, I took the new one outside for a treat because it hasn't gotten to fly yet.

It's as sad as I am.

The deer in the backyard liked it, though. :plane:

Yes, please do say hello next year. :)

My wife prefers yours, actually. If you liked the pic I took of yours with Berkeley in the background, feel free to use it for whatever purpose you like, and I can send you other high-res ones of your kite in action.

And not only will I say hello next year (unless I am in Idaho during the festival), I will attempt to fly with you all without destroying anything.

Thanks for the kind words and for posting the great images!

I still have not seen any of the customs in the air!

Hopefully, I will this weekend.

Thanks again,

I saw one on Saturday afternoon as we were packing up...

Those poor people had no brake on it at all, sticks on the front, etc.

Five minutes later, I had them all sorted out, and the kite looked great in the sky. :)

I wasn't sold on these based on the drawings alone, but the actual photos are another matter. Despite buyers regret (I'll get over it, it's only one meal a day for a couple months skipped) I've placed an order for one. I'm just not sure how many of these exisit so maybe I'm S*** outta luck. Are they the same size as a B-series or what exactly did I just buy? Hmm, sounds rather like I have no idea what I'm doing. Wouldn't be the first time.

I won't be flying this in our howling winds or anything that might stretch it so ordered with a 2 wrap. I have a two wrap frame already, but with a pro-mid coming it would be nice to have a spare set.

I think I am offically crazy now!

Bart,

I ordered one two days ago after talking with Tom directly. He said he was still good to go on a few more, so you should be ok.

So how many of these are we going to have in Canada? You, me. Who else?

I figured that if the option was on the site to buy then the one I want must be available. I'm sure I'll be informed if that's not the case.

They are a 1.5 size right?

I've never really understood the whole SLE thing. Does this mean they are different rods than what I am used to with my "B"?

It can be confusing Bart because the non "B" series kite is referred to as a 1.5 SLE.

SLE is also a reference to the leading edge, in this case Super Leading Edge. This LE is a half inch in diameter, very sturdy and stiff, as well as extremely difficult to break. It is however, a perfect beat down stick for Antman!! .

Ah,

Ok, I ordered the 2 wrap 1/4" not the half inch so should be interchangeable with my other kites then. Corrent? Haven't lost my head further?

Actually, all 1.5 frames (EXP, SLE, B, B Pro) are interchangeable. The end caps are designed so that the 1/4" rods fit inside them and the SLE rods fit outside them. The only difference is that the LE end caps on the SLE have little washers on them so that the rod ends don't rub against the bridle and elastics.
