From Ben:

Well Family here's the raffle to end all raffles, we have thru the help of Felix Mottram of the Decorators and the entire team have been able to offer TWO KITES for the "Save Bristol Campaign"..... Felix and The Decorators have gotten some true Masterpieces together which will be sewn by Martin Lester and are designed by Jorgen Moller Hansen and I am here to say these kites are true one of a kinds because they will never be done again.

1991team1.jpg 00010902_1.jpg

Let me share what Felix has to say about these kites...

In 1990/91 we approached Revolution Kites and they agreed to make us a set of custom Rev1 sails to a design by Jørgen Møller Hansen. We think that this may have been a 'very early' example of custom designs for Revolution sails! (Image attached, young fliers!)

In 1998 a new set of Rev1 sails were made using the original graphic. (Image attached, sculpture on Blackheath)

Jørgen has given us permission to use his design again, for two 1.5 sails sewn by Martin Lester and finished by Bazzer, which are to be raffled for the benefit of The Bristol Kite Festival 2009. (one yellow and one blue)

The Decorators first attended the Bristol Kite Festival in 1988 and hope that we can help get sufficient support to secure the event this year especially after the success of the Revolution focused event last year.

So Family here we are, we will sell 125 tickets for $20 each, we will have two lucky winners (one kite each) and all the money will go for Bristol..... So call or email me with the numbers you want and then I will respond and then at that time you will need to do your payment thru PayPal.

When all tickets are sold or we reach a dead line of July 31st we will pick the winners.

Either call me personally or email me and I'll lock this in for you, make your payment after securing your ticket number(s).... 619-750-8770 or 858-679-5785 or beachbeach13[at]yahoo[dot]com

Please understand this is not for just us but for kiting as a whole, so dig deep and let's as a Family make this happen....... Ben Dantonio

IMPORTANT:

To be extra clear... Before buying, you should contact Ben with your number selection(s) to make sure they're available... Only once he's assigned your number(s) personally, then come back here and buy the corresponding number of tickets.

Available numbers are will be listed at the bottom of this post (taken numbers are marked otherwise), but again, confirm with Ben before purchasing tickets to assure availability.

This drawing will actually be done in the Rev office (probably by Ben with help from one of their employees who don't know any of us).

DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS UNTIL YOU'VE CONFIRMED # SELECTIONS WITH BEN.

Hi Bazzer,

Yes, both pictures were on our home pitch. The road in the first one is now a footpath!

Hi Laura,

Good to hear about the numbers but there is no possibility that we could all attend.

It is possible that Berck 2010 will be the next big Rev event in Europe. The dates are 10-18th April 2010...

Hello, my name is Maggie, this is my first post on any forum. I went to Blackheath festival 08 and the kite flying bug which had been around for years bit me. I bought my first kite, a JB 1.5 purple rev from kiteworld and it was set up for me at Dunstable kite festival 08. Every week i flew at Blackheath, once when it was snowing, and i love it!! I was in an accident early April and broke my arm. Strapped up for weeks and now having physiotherapy and you know what, even though only a beginner, I miss flying so much and want to get back ASAP, i'm told in 8 weeks i can. My reason for this post is that Bristol Kite Festival is needing funding. The kite festivals are so important in encouraging new flyers and for meeting and flying with old friends. Dig deep, you'll miss it if it's not there!!
Thanks for reading Maggie
