Hey there guys

We're visiting the US and Canada again this year, flying out from London on 20th July and coming back on 2nd August 2009.
Planning on flying into Newark then taking a driving tour through Buffalo (Niagara Falls), Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Maine, Boston and back to Newark.

Are there any events during that time at any of those locations?

Or can anyone local make any recommendations of places to go / things to see on the road trip?

thanks!

Aw, too bad its the 20th. you are just missing by days (and 7 miles), the NJSKC at liberty state park. Not sure about other things. I'd check the aka (www.aka.kite.org) calendar

Just checked the AKA calendar and the only thing remotely close is an event in Michigan the first weekend that you will be here. Not every event is on that calendar, so there is still hope. Perhaps local fliers would plan to meet and fly with you.

Jersey Crew? Aug 1st for a bon voyage Hezz fly?

LIBERTY STATE PARK for a Jersey fly is always recommended. 10 minute ride from Newark airport.
Name the date and we'll be there!!!!!

Hezz,
If the timing works for you and you're around Newport RI July 26th, the below might interest you.
Brenton Point is absolutely one of THE BEST places to fly kites.

BUT.......don't forget, you have a must do date with us at Liberty State Park as well!!!!!!!!!

The below from Steve Santos..........
"RI Governor's Day"
""""This event is great for the State of Rhode Island, and kite flying at Brenton Point in Newport. We happen to have a Governor, and his wife, who truly appreciate kite flying. This year they asked if we could create an "Ocean Theme" kite fly. I know we can satisfy him. Fish, Octopus, Dolphins, whales, sharks, scuba divers, etc., etc.! Join me in having a special event, an Ocean Theme Kite Fly, Sunday July 26th. at Brenton Point State Park in Newport. The Governor usually comes by between 12 - 2 PM. I'll know more as we get close to the date. Bring your revs & sport kites too, Governor likes to see all forms of kites. Scott Weider has a great photo of him flying a Rev. Updates will follow." Steve""""

Thanks for the heads up! We're still likely to be around Toronto / Montreal by then but certainly heading down that way towards the 29th/30th... can't promise anything yet until we work out our itinerary better..

We should have a few hours on 2nd August to fly with the NJ crew before going for the flight, which is at 10pm. A nice relaxing day to wind down with new friends, sounds great!

:)

sorry guys rich is right. I willbe in Israel. I just made this organization that finds and cleans mattress and ship them around the world. Rich acually gave me this idea and i think its ganna work. and the best part is rich just donated his king size temper-pedic bed to the kids of bali and i am in the middle of shipping him a twin mattress.

@ rich there are a few stains but some newpaper and a cover will do the trick.

Well, the weekend is fast approaching.. won't have a lot of time to post in the next few days as we get things organised for our holiday, then attend the fab Dunstable kite festival on Sunday! Just time to wave my Mum off at the station on Monday morning then it's time to catch the bus to Heathrow Airport...

Will try and catch up on the forum at some point next week (internet connectivity permitting) and give you an update of where we are up to, planning to be in Montreal on the 25th as there is a Dragon Boat Festival there, sounds interesting!!

Looking forward to seeing you guys on Sunday 2nd August at Liberty Park, what sort of time were you looking to be there and whereabouts is the best place to fly?

cheers, and see you soon :blue-grin:

Hezz
