My friend Walt Ellis gets the gold star on these " new handles " and they are really nice, I have been on them for about
a month and I'm here to tell you that they really have improved my touch because of the overall lightness. Here's
the way they were explained to me....

These handles are made from 6061 T6 solid aluminum rods that are polished to a chrome like finish. This a departure
from the standard handles as they do not have the hog rings a common snag point. The handle leaders are tied directly
to the handles hence you eliminates this snag point. The " Pro Handles " also are about 20 grams lighter which increases
the feel to the kite.......

All I can tell you for sure I like the ones I have and will be changing out to these handles for all my kites including
my indoor.... Ben

Ben,

You described these handles to me yesterday and I slightly double took on the concept. They sound very good indeed and I very much look forward to 'throwing the lines about' (long arm style) without the additional catch points.

The extra snap as the triangular connector swings into place has been bugging me for a long time...

Don't know about a container full, but Big Bri's wife Deb bought a pair at the auction ... you'll at least get a chance to lust over them in the UK.

By the way, Big Bri and Deb were so excited at KP7 that we could hardly understand them.

Other than the weight issue... Can the original handles be modified... hooks removed, hole enlarged, and re-tied to get similar results? ...OR am I missing the boat here?

Walt had/has a modification where he cuts off the ends of the present handles and forces an insert into the open ends. The inserts have the same design as the new all aluminum handles ... namely a single hole drilled fore-to-aft and a rounded off end. JB had a set of those handles at KP7.

To do it up proper, you'd have to send your handles to Walt to be modified ... what with the cost of shipping both ways and the cost of the modification, it's probably cheaper to simply buy the new handles. Besides, you'd have a spare set that way ...

The new handles look very good ... Walt does good work.

To get the full benefits of the Pro Handles, order a set from Ben. I have a batch of 13 inch and a batch of 15 inch ready for foam, then final polish, 55 PAIR all told. As soon as I get the foam I will get them sent off to Ben so he can get a pair in your hands. The foam is from Revolution, and is bonded to the handles using two part epoxy. I have taken great care in making sure there are no burrs to cut the leaders where they pass through the holes. This is one area I had problems with on my original modified handles until I found the burr and removed it. These are really the cars meow!

Yeah man, those were nice (flying your Rev at SPI, think I made a comment about those handles). Alright! Something else I *have* to spend money on! LOL

Solid aluminium with a hole each end. (I know it is a very carefullymade hole) Sort of makes you wonder why they have ever been different. Then of course you remember the neat little hooks that used to be on the end of the lines.

They look REALY cool to me. Got to put a set (or two) on my wish list.

Yes, they are. I made a bending jig and checked the first run of handles to several standard 13 inch handles. Once I was satisfied that I was getting repeatable results and the handles had the exact same bend and radius as the originals I called it good. I also made a special drilling jig to drill the holes the same distance from the end and to center and orientate the holes so they are all in line with the bend.
