Unfortunately...

On Sunday evening, following the Kite Party, Dave Shenkman found that someone had stolen all the wood stakes which were used to mark-off the flying field. A witness stated that someone had taken the stakes and simply walked off with them, down the beach, for possible bon-fire fuel. Dave reported the theft to police, who were unable to locate the suspect. Subsequent to the initial investigation, a photo has emerged that may help identify the responsible party. If you recognize this individual, please post relative information to assist in the investigation. Thank you for your assistance.

LOL.It even says,,,GOT WOOD ,,,on his Tshirt Jinx.

Everytime Dave told the story about the wood. The price of the wood went up .It started as a cost of $50.The last version, valued it at over $200.

Here's some video that I took at Kite Party.

I put it up on YouTube, and I'm hoping they process it for High Quality like they do for some videos, but I have no way of knowing if or when they might do that. For the moment anyway, it's only available at their standard quality, which isn't great. They're also doing something funky with the frame rate conversion, so I may just try encoding again with different settings, but until then, I wanted to post what I had done.

(It would be really cool if the board could install a video embed extension...wink, wink, ;) )

EDIT: I changed the URL to add the "&fmt=18" suffix. This forces YouTube to display a higher quality version.

EDIT #2: Since this thread was bumped after the forum upgrades, and now we do have the ability to embed a video, I've done so. :blue-cool:

I was quite suprised to have to go 5 pages deep in history here to find anything KP related.

We're more than 2 months away and i already thinking off it almost every day now..

Let's get this thing rolling! Posted Image

I suppose I could do it. I resumed meetings with Mr. Bone (Conference and Visitor's Bureau President). Originally there was going to be some money to throw at KP8, but it appears that situation has changed. We will have the extra field on the South side, and we will also take the beach in front of the condo's. Mr. Bone eventually wants to make this a monumentally BIG event, with public participation, etc., while still keeping the main area by the pier for KITE PARTY FOLK. I will be looking into incorporating the KTAI convention into the KITE PARTY for future events, but that is a whole other topic. As it stands for KP 8, here is the latest:

Dates: OFFICIALLY (we know what that means!) March 13th and 14th.
Time: All day
Place: Pier
Participants: The usual suspects, though a ROLL CALL will ensue shortly.
Hotel: Still waiting to hear from the Shorebreak (new hotel across the street) about reduced room rates, and will update as soon as possible. Otherwise, the Howard Johnson's is still a good bet.

Sponsor: The usual suspect.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately the "SPONSORED" guest list will be reduced this year due to reduced funds. As you know, my shop has been a 20' shipping container for the past 3 plus months, with another few weeks to go. Needless to say, sales have been impacted. I still have plenty of miles to spring for some airfares, but at the moment, the money spent on hotel rooms just isn't there right now, I'm really sorry.

I was really hoping to have kiteparty.com (thanks to John Barresi for securing that years ago!) up and running for this year, but the new shop has just put everything else on hold. In the meantime, check back here as I will be updating as things become finalized. Thanks for your time and participation.
