Whiter shade of pale is the reference you're making.

But you're right, these are definitely darker side of something!

Thanks for the title correction. From some time ago, memory not as good as it was and stuff.

So what about "Dark side of the Rev" for another song similarity.

:D Ron has been having some mighty strange dreams lately! Gorgeous kites and I like how he still manages to make it recognizably a "Gibian" design.

Should I post a pic of the other new one that you were playing with at the clinic?

Let the chips lay as they fall my friend and I'm not sure of $ of the handles yet...Ben B)

I think that means post the pics ..... although the handles may cost you more after you do. Was Ben threatening you? :boxing:

It should be a "Blacker shade of dark" to keep the proper balance ...

Oooh, another Hampton. We've already got one of his revs in the DC area, in Jeff King's bag. It's beee-yutiful!

I also see in that pic a Shook weave with the compass rose in the center...are the rev-labelled kites now including those? Previous masterpiece Shooks I've seen didn't have it...

All I can say is WOW!

Thank you for posting that, I think I just fell in love  Looks like some of the kites in the background of some pics Ben posted about the Pro series.

Ben,

I've often wondered what the back sides of the Masterpiece kites look like... any chance you could show pictures of the reverse of these?

And... they are amazingly complex and superbly executed designs!! Nice job, Mr Gibian! (PS - your Rising Phoenix has been my favourite Masterpiece so far)

JMZ

Not to pe-empt Bens reply, but.

I saw my first rear veiw of a few of the masterpiece revs a couple of weeks ago at the Wakefield festival.

As a builder of, shall we say, kites with a very distint shape ;) ;) , i was interested to see the workmanship of the revs made by Bazzer and Co.

The rear view of these revs will just blow you over; the stitching is perfect.

I saw a rear view of a Dragon rev, but the one that really blew my mind was the rear view of the one with the I Quad logo(the one with the figures dancin about).Perfect stitching, perfect applique, in fact perfect everything.

You might think im going over the top a bit, but just you wait till you see one.

The workmanship is something i, as a builder, marval at, and aspire to.

Hey Derek,

I was hoping someone would say exactly what you're saying!

I just can't imagine how the thin black lines that Ron Gibian uses in his Rising Phoenix can be as perfect on the back side as on the front? I mean, that's three-color appliqué on most of that kite, so how do you trim away two colors to make that black show up clean and perfect on both sides?

And the grill pattern that we're seeing on this new kite... is that sprayed on?... how does that paint show through on the back side?

What's a Dragon?... I haven't seen that in the Masterpieces.

The only iQuad logos I've seen on the Revs are usually very small... is there one where the logo has been appliquéd?

I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to see one of these in person. I don't think anybody in Central Canada owns a Masterpiece Rev. I'm seeing plenty of B-Series kites, but I don't know if I'll even get the chance to really look at a B-Pro for a long, long, long, long time.

Regards,
John

PS - I hope I can get John Mitchell to change my JMZ to john.martzouco please [:^)]
