Here's the first three with a finish on them. Home made Curly Walnut Plywood (five plys 1/8" thick).

I like the way the curl in the wood picks up the sun!

What a Cracking Job Alden.Have ya stained them or treated them with anything. They look proper good.

Thers somthing about wood.A good finish that pleases when ya touch it ,if its finished aswell as these custom beautys.

Perhaps a few cut out notches for equalising lines, would be a possibility on them also.

Bravo

They look good Alden.

Presume the small notch in the hand piece is to loop a finger in while you walk and unwind.

Neat job.

I agree with Brian, another notch on the other side for line equalisation. Winders make excellent equalisers. I have done this to my winders for that reason.

Thanks for the compliments.

They are finished with two coats of spray on satin polyurethane.

Tell me more about the notches that you use for line equalization. How does it work?

I think I see. Two equidistant pairs of notches. You put a line loop in each and make sure the tension is the same. Is that right?

That climax winder is nice but if I remember correctly the plastic is a little flimsy whereas the winders that come with the LPG is nice and sturdy but doesn't offer equalizing notches.

Wish I was the tinkering type.......
Sure glad there are others like Alden and Walt, and so on and so on, etc to test bench new ideas to refine the originals.
