Crikeys!!!
What a challenging venue for team kiting... 90 degree wind shifts, both vertically and horizontally, every 30-90 seconds, with holes throughout the window, and occasional strong gusts.
We were on standard B sails, 3 wrap centers with race frame wing tips and verticals... 60', 90# lines.
Flying at Prospect Point, during the big shoot we had no more than 12' to 15' of space in front of us (for the fliers), maybe 25' feet wide to stand in, with the aforementioned wind conditions... No gaps around our standing space, lined 15 deep with trees, bushes, audience, camera crews, TV personalities, light posts, light reflectors, etc, a major chunk of our window was eaten up by it... In my 18 years of flying, I've never seen a more difficult hour of flying, let alone as a team!
I'm prouder than words, my boys all flew really well... A testament to their pilot skills.
No way any other kite would have been able to work as the Revs did.
Team photo with Diane Sawyer after the shoot, local news time, a great outing.
Writing on iPhone now, will catch up later.
Cheers, thank you so much for your support!!
If anyone gets a recording, please let me know how I can get one for the team too.
