One of the best ways to develop your skills is by flying certain shapes or patterns in the sky, which competition compulsories provide...

The AKA web site has static compulsories which have been developed by the International Rules Book Committee:

Also, Reed Design has animated quad line compulsories on their web site, which make understanding them a breeze:

Competition isn't for everyone, but compulsories can be a lot of fun to fly even by yourself and can really go far towards improving your control and skill.

I don't have an iPod, iPhone or iPad and I am not really interested and getting either of the latter two.
You'll have to find someone who knows how to convert .swf files to apps, has the time, willing to do it and has iPod, and/or iPhone and/or iPad.

I so agree with you. If you can fly all of the compulsories just as the animations demonstrate, you can fly the Rev with precision (PUN INTENDED!!!)

Another skill to develp into a better pilot is to only fly in reverse. It's not easy to just do that for an hour straight, but well worth the effort!!! (imho, of course!) I actually got this suggestion from a couple of extremely talanted pilots who practice this tecnique, too; thanks you iQuad dudes!!!

I had been thinking the same about the Super Sixteen Animations.

I don't have an iPod, iPhone or iPad and I am not really interested and getting either of the latter two.

Afraid I don’t have those skills either but I think there may be someone on the forum who does.

There seems to be a problem that Apple does NOT want to support Flash on the i series.

Though, this might be interesting:

The thing is, there is no need to do the animations in Flash, they can be (re)done as html5. Flash is a crashy buggy "solution" that's time has passed.

That being said, I've been messing about here and there with some iPhone/iPad programming lately and this could be a doable project without too much hassle, it's very straightforward, once you redo the animations.

In my experience with both PC and MAC the crashing issue is particular to a MAC and not PC using Flash player or associated plug-in for the browser.

Anyway HTML5 is also a nice alternative. However, I do believe it is in bit of an early stage at this time.

Do you know of any good HTML5 GUI that works somewhere similar to Adobe Flash CS5 with it's time lines, motion editor and etc?

I'd agree. Somehow I suspect we'll have the inevitable Microsoft vs. Mozilla vs. Apple gunk that means content will not render accurately on each browser and platform combination. That's pretty much how Adobe made money in the first place, of course, by providing portability of formatted print and rich media.

Microsoft would dearly love to "absorb" Adobe and get rid of Google entirely, that would be the death blows to Apple!
