It should be a great addition at multiple day star parties, when there is not much to do during the daytime. I finally got my new 1.5 SLE airborne Sunday. Thanks to some good pointers from Brad and Joe in Phily, I made the best of overwhelming heat and underwhelming wind. The short-lived breezes kept swirling around, making flights short. Brad gave me good advice to replace my SLE rods with the 3-wrap set I bought with the kite. I feel this was helpful in getting what little airtime I got.
I need much more practice with better wind to get used to the new kite and handles, but it felt similar to my Backtracker with no unpleasant surprises. The next time I get out with better winds, I intend on flying both and getting a better feel for the difference. I am sure I will improve my skills with the larger kite on my lines.
Have fun with your new Rev. I am sure you will.

Woo Hoo! Congratulations and Happy Flying!!! Did you get to do any flying at Ocean Shores?
No chances on a Rev, but I did manage a bit of airtime with the old Skynasaur Aerobat and put the single string up as well.
This is me holding up the Skynasaur for the camera! Can you believe this old bird can hover? Only on the extreme right and left of the wind window!

Wayne: Congrats on your new Rev as well! That's great that Brad and Joe were there to give you pointers. It helps sooooo much to fly with others. Is that Fairmount Park in the pic???

Having advice from experienced Rev'ers Brad and Joe was a big help, and more fun too! That is Fairmount Park in the pic, the first time I have been there. I am a surburban guy and tend to avoid the "City of Brotherly Shove" whenever possible, but I must admit the view from the site was nice (but not the traffic jam on the Sure-Kill Distressway on the way home). We tried Valley Forge Park on Saturday, but the NPS has stopped cutting the grass on most of the fields, so it is no longer a good kiting site. The wind was even worse on Saturday, so my first flight was Sunday in Fairmount Park. I will be scouting Google Earth for more local sites and may test the small park across the street from my employer after work today.
