We are having our first 'official' Rev Clinic (and rev games) this weekend, in Reno, NV at Rancho San Rafael, 3pm - 6pm

I've advertised it locally to our kite flyers, but thought I would also toss it up on the forum, in-case anyone is looking for a reason to head to Reno!

We'll take a few pictures and let everyone know how it goes.

Phil

How fun!

Can I request a report (800+ words) and a couple dozen photos from the games?

It'd make great content for Kitelife. ;)

I can create a 'report', but I doubt if it will be 800+ words. We'll take pics too, but no guarentees on the quantity.

Between organizing, flying and coaching, I plan to take a few pics on the way!

We've got an 800 word minimum for reports, but it's not really as much as you might think.

It'd be a great way to bring attention to the event for future years, and to share the fun had by all!

Food for thought. ;)

Sounds like a plan.

Given the training we plan to do, as well as as the events we plan. 800 words may be pretty easy!
We'll give it a go, with 2 dozen+ pictures in mind as well.

thanks!

One may question if Rev games would be 'fair' for both novice and experienced pilots.

We will have different levels of games for novice, (ie, been flying a few weeks) versus old salts (10+ years such as myself).

I guarentee that EVERYONE including the bystanders/observers will be having fun! AND.. stretching someone's skills into new territories can only help them grow and improve as a Rev flyer.

We played red light/green light for the first time last night (4 Rev flyers), as well as 'tag', 2 salts and one newbe. The newbe was MUCH better flying than he realized after a little 'tag'.

As 'we' know, the secret to fly Rev's is not to try! Just go out and do-it!
Flying Rev's is like walking while chewing gum, not that tough once you try!

There was a question about flying blindfolded, no problem for the salts, but the newbe's were shocked at the concept. No Worries!

It will be a GREAT event, and worth the trip to Reno to participate and/or watch.

Tomorrow is the day!

Made up a set of limbo poles today, have some Limbo music, atv antenna's and ping pong balls.

We are ready for action!

I'll post updates, pics and mini video's after the event.

Have an awesome time with Rev Games.

They are at once, tons of fun and extremely humbling. Not so humbling though that this idiot here went back for more. :kid_smartass:

ENJOY!!!!!

Just to help. get you started. The rev games were very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very fun. A brave group of flyers got together and had fun testing their own skills as well as competing for braging rights to try to beat Antmans 19.59 second blindfolded flying record from the 2008 Wildwood International Kite Festival. Others lined up at the inverted drag strip for a race to the top of the window. Kites were flipped, ping pong balls were knocked off poles. It looked easy....real easy but.

When all else fails the elementary school word count tactic works.

It was good to see even some of the experienced pilots get challenged with some of the simple stuff. I can't wait for more rev games in the future.

Rev fliers showed up force!

We had music, limbo poles and were ready for action!

Ready for the punch line?
.
.
.
.
.

All we needed was 'wind'!

It was a warm (80+ degrees), sunny day. High pressure had control and wasn't letting-up.

The 'official' Reno Rev Games (and Rev Clinic) are postponed until next Sunday, June 15th, Fathers day.

The good news is that two young girls (8 and 10 years old) confirmed that the limbo music and poles work for limbo-ing.
----------

We flew Rev's several times late last week, thursday and Friday, PLENTY of wind.
And today, Good wind too! Bummer was no wind yesterday, ie Sunday.

Phil
