Tried it last week... Its a hoax... all done with CG and mirrors ..... either that or you would need to have an infinite amount of ability more then me....

I tried once with my Barresi using the dog stake, it was total chaos, looks easy but easy said than done, nearly break 1 or 2 spar. Can't even control properly, it keeps going & up down banging away while John do it like a stroll in the park.
Going to practice more using my 1.5 SLE but this time, inverted hovering first before attempting another move. Hopefully no break of spars.
All I can say, John, you are the Man of Rock & Revolution !!! You ROCK !!!

Tried it to - how embarrassing! I have come to the conclusion it cannot in fact me done and that the videos are just morphed footage from two separate films! I think the problem I had was that the friction stopped me controlling the kite.

The last time that I tried dog staking, it was on a dual line [BAN!] and I managed to hit Ron Moulton, founder of the British Kite Association. 
I decided then and there that it would be most prudent to leave dog staking to the experts.
