For me chat means that I would have to hang in there constantly thus would not be able to do other things.fir a while now ive been checking kite chat out and havent seen noone there .. i wonder why???
The forum fits great into my working environment. Got 5 minute, look at the forum, if not look at it later.
Maybe we could use chat for HOT items, whatever they might be.
That is basically why you have not seen me there in recent times.

I'm with John.... I work in IT so spend the day looking at a screen and this forum is my 'Tea break', during the day and sat on the sofa with a laptop in the evenings I can 'check in' during the adverts (sorry commercials for you new world friends) .....

Jonesey, surely you are confused - you work on the forums and do the IT in your coffee break?
Or do you always have a coffee break at 0525 in the morning!

John may have a case here, but Jonesey certainly doesn't - 254 posts since the end of Feb!

You might not be the first person to 'suggest' that but you need to look at the times Sailor post's before you have a go at me

A word of caution though.
The NKG Forum had one or two complain about off topic chat and topics not in context. After a breif melay it was over. The forum now is ALMOST DESERTED. .
Personally, didnt know ther was a chat room/chat.I also enjoy everyones comments regardless of context.on or off topic.

For me the off topic thing is simple to sort out with a rule we use on another forum I set up. If someone asks a serious question and somebody then just hijacks the thread before they have had a range of serious answers, well that is plain rude. However if the conversation develops in a new and different direction from the conversation after the serious point has been dealt with, then thats fine. This is simply a reflection of the way the human mind works - one person sparks a thought in another. If it causes confusion or disharmony the moderation team can simply split the new thought process into a new thread. This thread being a good example, it starts about a chat room, passes briefly through avatars, then moves into a discussion about OT which may be worthy of a new thread in itself.
Then you get the person who takes threads OT purely to bate or play mind games with people. There is a word for them - Troll - and they do say "Don't feed the trolls". This forum has been unique in my experience in not having such a person appearing, and long may it continue.

I know USA and UK ar on differant time zones, but something could be worked out. ie, all the UK chaters(spelling!!) go in the chat at, say, teatime, and all the USA chaters go in at 2200 hrs, then all will be well, and you can chat to each other. Or is it the other way round
Derek.
