I was lucky recently to spend 10 days on a beach flying revs with some of the best (and nicests) rev pilots in Europe. One of the teams was new to me though, the Japanese pair Karasu. What stood out for me most was that the first time I saw them fly they performed a ballet to Thriller using two Blasts. This is not something I have seen in Europe before and was a real eye opener.

Prior to this I would have said that the Blast, whilst very fun, was not a team kite. Now I am having second thougths. The very diffferent flight characteristics opens up a whole new range of moves. So, did any one get any video of this routine as I would like to study it a little more closely and does anyone else fly these kites in team?

We were lucky enough to fly with Karasu a great deal during the week and I have nothing but resepect for their skills. They learnt one of our team routines in 10 minutes and then flew it better than we do normaly! I would love to find their email address if anyone has it.

Until then, the Blast and Karasu, the shape of things to come?

Hi Stephen

It was a sight to be seen, as you've already said, it is unlike anything we usually see: blast ballet! :w00t:

Sadly I was too far away to get any video footage :blue-confused:

Thanks Alex, you got them on the windy day. They were flying home vented Blasts so the precision was not as good as later in the week.

They had some great little touches that set off the music. It is a real shame you didn't get the first 30 seconds as they are my favourite. Still you can get a sense of the mad change of speed and direction that you can get with these kites.

It's not the size of your Rev.. its how you use it.
Seven days without flying a Rev makes one weak.

Looks like Blast Ballet *is* Big in Japan :)

蝦夷

"Ezo" is another team of 4 x blast fliers from Japan!
You'll find the link from the above link for their routine flown to Ravel's "Bolero".
