After the girlfriends dog decided that she would like to take up rev flying, and dismully failed with her efforts.

My mother has seen the damage that the little darling left, she feels that she will be able to replace the panels in the sail.

Could any one let me know hat weight of Ripstop Nylon is used in the 1.5 SLE. I would like to keep it as near to orignal as poss as it had less then 10 mins flying time.

My first call would be to email Rev they may well be able to supply an exact match. It may well cost a little more and take a little longer to ship from the US but probably well worth it to get a good job done.

I believe they also provide their own repair service though you may well have to wait for a better informed reply to get a definitive answer on that one.

Do you have a photo of the damage? I've fixed a few dog-damaged kites and may have the same colours.

Rev usually uses .6 oz Texlon or Icarex ripstop Polyester. Some sails are a mix of .6 oz ripstop Polyester and .75 oz ripstop Nylon.

The ripstops sold in fabric stores isn't suitable for kites- it's far too stretchy. Are there any kite makers in your area? They might have some suitable material for you. If you live near a sailmaker, they sometimes have scraps that are excellent for kite repairs too.

Just say that you were target shooting, and the target just happened to be attached to the dog!

With the help of Skunk, this is the finished item, a well vented 1.5SLE......

I am curious how that would compare to a normal vented B or SLE ?

In my humble opinion after having a fly with the modified Rev I would say it flie's just as well as my vented 1.5 if not better, happy accident ? design by Rizzo built by Skunk.

Here it is with Col's SLE back in August, it is a real nice kite to fly, looks to be a similar amount of venting to the normal 1.5.
