[Sky Festival Productions]

Hi everyone and happy spring to all!



Well, it's that time of year again when Sky Festivals is ramping up for another fun-filled kite flying season! To start off the year, please accept this note as an open invitation to all to join us for the 14th Annual MIKE / 19th Annual MASKC event in Ocean City, MD on April 25 - 27.



In an effort to continuously add to and improve kiting events, this years Ocean City festival will see the return of the Kite Makers Competition; it will include a new event, Rev Games - facilitated by none other than our very own Jeff King; and you'll also find a new way to identify all of the registered flyers and attendees via a neon-colored wrist band - of course, lanyards and name badges will still be provided. Be sure to register prior to the event as all pre registered individuals will be entered in to a prize raffle to be held on Friday evening immediately following the close of registration followed by a night fly on the promenade!



In the spirit of conjuring some excitement with change, one of our goals is to be more creative in offering a bit of a different fare at our Saturday evening banquet menu. Shenanigan's is always great to work with and collectively we are coming up with some good ideas!



Our auction is already looking quite impressive this year with the generous sponsorship support of The Kite Loft, Go Fly A Kite, HQ Kites, New Tech Kites, Premier Kites, Prism Kites and Revolution. In addition to these folks, there are a number of individual sponsor donators who have committed their generosity to the auction as well - and with our larger-than-life Harold Ames at the helm of the auction microphone, it's sure to be an auction you won't want to miss!



And I almost forgot to mention . . . Jim Christianson - another one of our biggest kiting advocates - of Go Fly A Kite along with his fellow band members of Skydog will once again be performing for us on Saturday evening immediately following the auction. Go Fly A Kite is sponsoring our post auction party with providing free drink tickets to all pre registered event participants. Each participant will receive a drink ticket which will be included in your registration packet and will be accepted at the bar in exchange for a beverage, post auction only.



There are GREAT things happening all weekend long, from the time you pull in on Friday until the time we all regretfully leave on Sunday or Monday. With just a few of the happenings mentioned above, c'mon over and join us for a weekend filled with lots of outstanding competition, beautiful kites, fun music and most importantly, wonderful friends - I truly look forward to seeing all of you again very soon!

I always have a great time at MIKE/MASKC!! Love the OC beach and the boardwalk.
REV games are going to be so much fun! I can't wait!! The band was great last year!
Beatrix I hope we get to fly REV's together this year.

REV games are a blast! It's nice if you play a few games at differnt levels. This way everyone can have fun.

At Cape Fear we did a blindfolded game!! What a hoot. You started out in the middle and flew up. Then you had to fly to the out side of both cones and back to the starting place! I have photos in my web shots page under Cape Fear 2007. Check out all the smiles on everyone's faces!!

The key is to have FUN!!!!

Looks to be true to me, John.
He's so sick, he flies lots of the time one-handed on a bridle-less REV2 and doesn't look at the kite either!

Yeah, that was me. But really, when am I not flying blind? Or at least clueless?

I'd done a lot of Rev games back in the day at Sunfest, but I think this was the first time blindfolded. It was a lot of fun, and the kite felt really amazing once it was up above the lousy groundwinds created by that dune behind us in the picture. Unfortunately, the directions for the game largely involved groundwork, for which you had almost no feedback on the handles.

Also, I blame my, um, 3rd? place finish on the fact that I was stuck with Ben as my eyes -- everyone else had good coaches. Yeah! That's it!
